Objective:To investigate the effect of peer education on the stress of undergraduate nursing students in the middle clinical practice period; to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of application of peer education in nursing education.Methods:A total of190nursing students were collected by cluster sampling method from a medical university in Chongqing qualitative and quantitative methods were used to investigate the stress and pressure level of undergraduate nursing students in the middle clinical practice period.Education plan and education content were designed to relieve the stress of nursing students. The students were divided into two groups randomly:the experiment group (n=100) and the control group (n=90).The experiment group received the intervention of peer education and the control group were without any intervention. The intervention consisted of five-week of group intervention per week and2-3times alone intervention per week. The stress of the two group students was performed before the intervention and1,3months after the intervention by using Nursing Students’Stress Scale (NSSS)Results:1、The main stress of undergraduate nursing students was the nature of work,workload, practice preparation, interpersonal relationships, work support, the conflict of work and learning support, personal developmentThe balance between the two groups was tested statistically before the intervention (P>0.05).1month after the intervention,the experiment group had lower stress score than the control group(p<0.05),and the subscores of6factors of the experiment group, namely the nature of work,workload, practice preparation, interpersonal relationships, work support, the conflict of work and learning support, were lower than those of the control group(p<0.05).3months after the intervention,the experiment group had lower stress score than the control group(p<0.05),and the subscores of3factors of the experiment group, namely the nature of work,workload, practice preparation, were lower than those of the control group(p<0.05).Conclusion:1.undergraduate nursing students experienced high-level stress in the middle clinical practice period2. Peer education can relieve the stress of nursing students in the middle clinical practice period,and it should be further applying in the field of nursing education...
