Objective: To explore the adeno-tonsillectomy(A&T) on the quanlity of life in children with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) in Southwest area.Methods:There are 246 children conform to the standard of OSAHS by polysomnography(PSG)in the study,all guys have the adenoidectomy and/or tonsillectomy.Disease-specific quality of life for children with obstructive sleep apnea18 items survey(OSA-18) questionnaire are taken before surgery and 6-8 months post-operation.The changes of OSA-18 scores before and after surgery reflect the change of the quality of life.All the data is adopted SPSS20.0, preoperative and postoperative OSA- 18 scores comparison, using wilcoxon signed rank, P < 0.05 difference is statistically significant.Results:The total scores of OSA-18 dropped from 64.80±8.95 to 30.11± 4.49,The scores of six domains show great improvement(P<0.05),include:sleep disturbance,physical symptoms,caregiverconcern,daytime function,emotional distress and other symptoms. The overall efficiency improve of quality of life is 99.6%.Conclusion :The quanlity of life are greatly improved post-operation with OSA-18 questionnaire,adenotonsillectomy is an effective method to cure children with OSAHS caused by adenoid and/or tonsil hypertrophy.
