Objective: This study is aimed to invest health service need and utilization situation among elderly population aged 60 in Chongqing Yuzhong district, understand health services need and utilization status quo and its influencing factors among the elderly in Chongqing Yuzhong district, find out health service need and utilization problems in the Yuzhong district in the elderly, and put forward the feasible countermeasure and the suggestion to make the elderly get better medical care, meet the long-term mechanism of the elderly health service demand. What is more, this study provides scientific health policies for government functional departments, and is mainly to provide basis for the rational allocation of health resources.Method: With the method of multi-stage sampling to extract the age of 60 and older in Yuzhong District of Chongqing, referred to the relevant literature as well as national health services survey, designed " elderly health service needs and utilization questionnaire of Yuzhong" by self and did self-administered questionnaire. Applied excel data entry software, and did descriptive analysis.(1)The survey questionnaires were distributed 600 and 576 were valid, the effective rate was 96%.In the survey,253 were elderly male, and 323 were female, the male to female ratio was 0.78: 1, the age range was 60 to 92 years old, average age was 70 years old, the age of 60 to 69 year old took the most proportion.(2) Week prevalence rate treatment was 16.5% of the surveyed, two-week prevalence rate of 46.6% did not visit. The prevalence of chronic diseases was 60.6%.The mainly chronic disease were high blood pressure, diabetes, coronary heart disease; chronic diseases in women than men.(3) Two weeks prevalence rate treatment was 16.5%, and two-week prevalence rate of 46.6% did not visit, the annual hospitalization rate was 14.1%, require hospitalization but not rate was 48.4%. Analysis showed that the main factors affecting the elderly surveyed week prevalence attendance rate and hospitalization rate were the average monthly household income levels, with or without health insurance, with or without chronic disease, the higher income level, the higher two- week consultation rate and the rate of hospitalization. The elderly with higher Medicare and chronical ill, the week prevalence rate and the hospitalization rate for treatment were higher.Conclusion:(1)The demand for health services of the investigated elderly was higher than the general population, but the utilization rate of health services was less than the general population, which led to disadvantaged situation of elderly health care utilization. The whole society should give more attention to the elderly, and treat the elderly community health education as a priority, develop a healthy lifestyle, enhance health awareness, optimize the allocation of health resources, strengthen the construction of primary health service system, improve the health status of the elderly population.(2) The main factors affecting the elderly health services utilization were chronic disease prevalence and income levels. Government should treat chronic disease prevention and control as the key point of elderly health service; established and improved the social medical insurance system for the elderly, and expanded the coverage rate and popularizing rate of basic medical insurance and reduced the financial burden caused by the medical treatment, and provided better protection and support for the elderly population health services utilization.
