Objective:We carried a systematic review on the clinical outcome, postoperative recurrence, postoperative infection and the rate of postoperative pain of odontogenic cyst treated by marsupialization and enucleation from the published journals at home and abroad, providing evidences for the clinical treatment decisions of the odontogenic cyst. Methods:The key words were used for electronic searching, “odontogenic cyst”, “marsupialization”, "enucleation" and its synonyms, within the databases of Pub Med Cochrane library, CBM, Wanfang data,CNKI and VIP electronic journals, extracting data from selected literatures by using Rev Man5.3 Meta analysis software according to include and exclude standard selection literatures. When ranking recurrence rate, infection rate and pain rate, it was represented by RR and 95%CI;When measureing the time of operation, Volume of intraoperative blood loss, it was represented by MD and 95%CI. All indexes were tested for homogeneity. If P > 0.05, shows that multiple similar study has homogeneity, by using the fixed effects model analysis. If P ≤0.05, using a random effects model for statistical analysis. Results:10 of 557 papers were selected based on the entrance criteria. RR of postoperative recurrence rate, postoperative infection rate and the rate of postoperative pain and, MD of operative time and intraoperative blood loss we analyzed using the software Rev Man5.3. Meta analysis results showed that:(1).Postoperative recurrence rate RR = 0.51, 95% CI(0.15 1.76) P=0.29;(2).Postoperative infection rate RR = 0.10, 95% CI(0.03 0.30) P<0.0001;(3). The rate of postoperative pain RR = 0.17, 95% CI(0.10 0.27) P<0.00001;(4). Operation time MD =-30.97, 95% CI(-32.64-23.91) P<0.00001;(5).Volume of Intraoperative blood loss MD =-78.36, 95% CI(-105.25-51.47) P<0.00001. Conclusion:Compared with the traditional techniques, we shorted the operation time, reduced the volume of intraoperative blood loss, and decreased the rate of postoperative infection and postoperative pain by the way of marsupialization of odontogenic cyst, there were significant statistical difference. But there were not significant statistical difference in the postoperative recurrence rate.
