Application Of Cyst Plug With Soft Liner Thermosetting Resin In The Maxillary Cystic Disease Treated By Marsupialization

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of the maxillary cystic disease treated by marsupialization and cyst plug with soft liner thermosetting resinMethods: 20 cases were chosen from January,2014 to May,2015 in the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Zunyi Medical University whose X-ray showed a maxillary cystic disease.All of them treated by marsupialization under local anesthesia.11 cases were diagnosed as keratocystic odontogenic tumor(KCOT) by pathology,5 cases were ameloblastoma and both dentigerous cyst and radicular cyst were 2 cases.And the cyst plug with soft liner thermosetting resin was used to keep the wound open.All the cases returned visit and took cone beam CT(CBCT) examination after 3,6,12 months to evaluate the clinical symptoms and the maximum size of the cyst and the bone mineral density.Results: The 20 cases can wear the cyst plugs with soft liner thermosetting resin in the long term to remain the cysts open.The soft tissue and nerve and teeth were not injured.From the CBCT images the size of cysts reduced gradually.After surgery for 3 months,the average degree in all was 27.26%,different types showed varying degrees:KCOT 31.57%,ameloblastoma 22.14%,dentigerous cyst and radicalar cyst 32.22%.And 6 months later the average in all reached 56.27%,and the varying degrees were:KCOT 60.12%,ameloblastoma 58.89%,dentigerous cyst and radicalar cyst 57.81%.Followed-up 12 months,the lesions in 20 cases reached 73.02%,and the varying degrees were:KCOT 71.12%,ameloblastoma 68.15%,dentigerous cyst and radicalar cyst 79%.After the surgery,the sizes of the cysts shrank,all these had statistical significance(p<0.05).But the different types showed no statistical significance(p>0.05).The bone mineral density in 20 cases from the CBCT images showed:3 months later the cysts had no bone image.Then 6 months,the bone mineral density at sagittal and coronal and horizontal respectively were 164.47 Hu,221.26 Hu,182.11Hu(p>0.05).Followed-up 12 months,the bone mineral density increased to 292.47 Hu,358.52 Hu,314.79 Hu,the variation had statistical significance(p<0.05).But the bone mineral density of KCOT and dentigerouscyst and radicalar cyst were denser than ameloblastoma.the difference had statistical significance(p<0.05).Conclusion: Cyst plug with soft liner thermosetting resin can remain the cyst open and be effective in treatment.
