Objective:The present study evaluated the outcome for chronic apical abscess with sinus through57 teeth, which were treated with various ways.Methods:1. Read the literature about the treatment of chronic apical abscess with sinus in the country currently.2. Read the related literature about the research at home and abroad to learn the progress of periradicular bone resorption.3.(1) Collected clinical data of 57 cases, which were received treatment in the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University and were diagnosed as chronic apical abscess with sinus from March 2014 to January 2016. Recorded the information of each one, such as the location of the tooth, the conditions of tooth, gingival and periodontal, the patient’s gender,age, clinical manifestations.(2) All the teeth had X-ray film, in order to understand the situation of root and the periradicular lesions.(3) Accordingly the difference between the gender, age, diseases, habits, oral hygienestatus, 57 teeth were randomly divided into three groups: control group, iodoform group and minocycline hydrochloride ointment group before the study, then all the teeth were treated by root canal treatment, the sinus were treated with different ways, the effect were observed by regular follow-up and X-ray film.(4) All the collected data were analysised.Results:1. After the treatment, 56 cases of teeth were returned for a visit, 1 case lost to follow-up. Among these 56 cases of teeth, 33 cases were effective, 23 cases werefailed.2. 57 teeth were treated by different ways, control group: 6 cases were effective,13 cases were failed; minocycline hydrochloride ointment group: 13 cases were effective,5 cases were failed, 1 case lost to follow-up; iodoform sponge group: 14 cases were effective, 5 cases were failed. There were significant differences between the groups by SPSS 19.0(Chi-square analysis P<0.05).Conclusion:In this study, all the teeth were treated by root canal treatment and scraped sinus and combined with different medicine. Compared the efficacy of three treatment methods, we concluded that could promote the recovery of periradicular lesions.
