| Objective:To study the efficiency and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy of tonifying kidney and clearing damp-heat therapy on recurrent urinary tract infection.Methods:We collected 90 RUTI patients who revenues from September 2013 to January 2016 from Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Nephrology, Urology outpatient and ward. According to TCM and RUTI standard diagnostic criteria, patients were divided into two categories of the Qi and Yin deficiency and the Qi and Yang deficiency, each divided into treatment and control groups. The Qi and Yin deficiency group included 40 cases in the treatment and 20 cases in the control. The Qi and Yang deficiency group included 20 cases in the treatment and 10 cases in the control. The control group were treated with antibiotics based on susceptibility results. The treatment group on the basis of which plus Tonifying the kidney and clearing damp-heat method. The Qi and Yin deficiency group was treated by supplementing Qi and nourishing Yin, clearing heat and eliminating dampness method. While for syndrome of deficiency of both Qi and Yang, it was treated by taking temperature and invigorating spleen and kidney, and clearing damp-heat treatment. The course was 4 weeks. All the cases were followed for six months or more.Results:1. All enrolled patients were female, mostly concentrated in the 45-75 age group.2. Compared with the efficacy of TCM, two types of the treatment group was higher than the control in the cure rate and effective rate, but no statistical difference. In Qi and Yin deficiency group, after treatment, the frequent urination, urgency, dysuria, or burning sensation, abdominal pain symptoms were significantly improved (p<0.01), on urination was significant improvement (p<0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group much better than the control group in turbid urine, dry mouth and throat, but no significant difference in other symptoms. In the Qi and Yang deficiency group, after treatment, all symptoms have significantly improved (p<0.01),in the control group the loose stools thin, fatigue improved significantly (p<0.05), urinary frequency significantly improved (p<0.01). After treatment, the treatment group in pain intensified, chills symptom score was significantly lower than the control group (p<0.05). This shows that the treatment group in improving the number of frequent urination, urination regard as effective as the control group, but waist pain, loose stools thin, abdominal bulge, chills and other symptoms of yang qi deficiency improved significantly better than the control group.3. The treatment group and the control group were significantly reduced the white blood cell (p<0.01), but the treatment group better than the control group.4. After 6 months of follow-up, the recurrence rate of the treatment group was lower than the control group. Qi and Yin deficiency have a very significant difference (p<0.01).Conclusion:Tonifying kidney and clearing damp-heat therapy has a good clinical effect on recurrent urinary tract infection. The mechanism is based on improvement of symptoms, regulation of laboratory parameters and reduction of recurrence. |
