The Study Of Treatment In Children’s Chronic Cough With Xiebai San

BackgroundChildren’s chronic cough is common in the clinic. The main clinical symptom is cough.And nosogenesis of chronic cough is complex. The etiology of chronic cough is usually be difficult to diagnose because to lack of special and simple laboratory examination. When treated with Western medicine, the children with chronic cough are treated with drugs such as autitussive, expectorant and antibiotic, which is not therapy on the etiologies. Then most patients can not be cuerd, which is no good for physical and mental health. These inappropriate treatments result in some waste of medicine resources. The parents often fell the conomic pressure and the mental stress. Some clinical studies have indicated that long-term deferment cough and drug abuse can declines the immunity, which will let children be vulnerable to reinfection. The growth and development and physical health of children will be affected. Due to the emergence of the haze weather and air pollution degree aggravation,the morbidity of chronic cough in children is rising in recent years.Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) treatment has obvious advantage for this disease. Syndrome differentiation and treatment administration is the principle of TCM. TCM treatmeng can improve cough and other symptoms through regulating Yin Yang and treating the symptoms and causes. My tutor has accumulated plenty of clinical experience in the treatment of children’s chronic cough with Traditional Chinese Medicine, which provides the clinical foundation for this clinical trial research.ObjectiveThis topic aims at exploring the advantages of treating children’s chronic cough(Phlegm-heat obstructing Lung type) with Xiebai San Jia Jian through observing patients clinical symptoms and signs before and after treatment, and then comparing with control group. This research will analyse the etiology, pathogenesis, prescription and medicine in TCM of this desease. The study hopes to offer objective foundation for curative effect judgement of children’s chronic cough with TCM treatment.MethodThis research was a prospective study. According to inclusion and exclusion criteria, fifty children with chronic cough of Phlegm-heat obstructing Lung type were chosen and randomly divided into two groups, thirty in trial group and twenty in control group. Patients of the trial group were treated with Xiebai San Jia Jian for seven days, and pationts of the control group were treated with montelukast and procaterol tablet for seven days. The symptoms and signs before and after treatment need to be collected and scored.The scores were analyzed statistically to evaluate the therapeutic effect of two groups and then compare the treatment effect of two groups. All the data were analyzed by SPSS17.0 software. The measurement data were examined using t-test,and the grade data using Ridit.Result1.In the control group, comparing the score of symptoms and signs before and after treatment:degree of cough, expectoration, P values of these two indexes were all less than 0.05, had statistic significance; sleep, appetite, emotion and stool, P values of these four indexes were all greater than 0.05, had not statistic significance.2. In the test group, comparing the score of symptoms and signs before and after treatment:degree of cough, expectoration, sleep, appetite, emotion and stool, P values of these six indexes were all less than 0.05, had statistic significance.3. Comparing the TCM syndrom efficacy of two groups, the test group was better than the control group, p<0.05, had statistic significance.4. In test group, there were 30 patients,13 cases were cured,8 cases were improved obviously,8 cases were alleviated,1 case was ineffective,the total effective rate was 96.67%. In control group, there were 20 patients,2 cases were cured,8 cases were improved obviously,8 cases were alleviated,2 case were ineffective, the total effective rate was 90%. Comparing disease clinical efficacy of two groups, p value was less than 0.05, had statistic significance. The clinical efficacy of test group was superior to the control group.Conclusion1.Xiebai San Jia Jian have marked therapeutic effect in the treatment of chronic cough in children.2. Xiebai San Jia Jian when used to treat children’s chronic cough(Phlegm-heat obstructing Lung type) can not only improve obviously the symptoms of cough and expectoration but also sleep, appetite, emotion and stool.3. Comparing to control group, the improvement degree of cough in test group is better,and the clinical efficacy of test group is superior.4. TCM treatment in children’s chronic cough (Phlegm-heat obstructing Lung type) has advantages on less side effects, better efficacy, more comprehensive clinical effect and low price. TCM treatment in this desease is worthy to extended in the clinic.
