【Objective】1、To investigate the expressions of KLF9, Sp1 and P16 protein in ovarian serous or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and the clinicopathologic significance.2 、 To investigate the effect of KLF9, Sp1 and P16 on the occurrence and development of ovarian serous or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma.【Methods】Selected 60 cases ovarian serous or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, 20 cases ovarian borderline serous or mucinous cystadenoma and 20 cases ovarian serous or mucinous cystadenoma were paraffin-embeded tissue microarray.Each group were detected KLF9, Sp1 and P16 protein expression with immunohistochemical SP method and analysis the collrelation of the protein expression and clinicopathologic festure as well as among various groups of the protein.【Results】1 、 The positive rates of KLF9 were 63.3%, 30.0% and 10.0% in ovarian serous/mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, borderline serous/ mucinous cystadenoma and serous/mucinous cystadenoma respectively,the Sp1 were 71.7%, 25.0% and 15.0% and P16 were 16.7%, 55.0% and 70.0%.The expressions of KLF9, Sp1 and P16 protein were statistically significant in three groups(P<0.05).2. Spearman correlation showed that there was significantly positive correlation between KLF9 and Sp1(P<0.05). And negative correlation was between KLF9 and P16 as well as between Sp1 and P16(P<0.05).3. The expression of KLF9 was not correlated with the clinicopathological features of the patients, including age, tumor size, histological type, pathological grading, lymph node metastasis and clinical grading(P>0.05).4. The positive expression rate of Sp1 was significantly correlated with the clinical stage and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05), but not associated with age, tumourous size, histological type and pathological grade(P>0.05).5. The positive rate of P16 was correlated with pathological grade and clinical stage(P<0.05),but not associated with age, tumourous size, lymph node metastasis and histological type(P>0.05).【Conclusions】The results showed the high expression of KLF9, Sp1 and the low expression of p16 in ovarian serous/mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, suggesting that the three may be involved in the occurrence and development of ovarian serous/mucinous cystadenocarcinoma. KLF9 and Sp1 expressions were positively correlated;on the contrary the KLF9、Sp1 and p16 expressions were negatively correlated, prompting that The KLF9 and Sp1 may promote the development and progression of ovarian serous or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma by inhibiting the expression of P16. Our results also showed that KLF9 and Sp1 were associated with some clinicalpathologic characters of ovarian serous or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma.
