Objective:To analyze the expression and clinical significance of GDF15and UPA inovarian serous and mucinous cystadenocarcinoma.Methods:133samples and malignant(60samples)ovarian cystadenocarcinoma and15samples normal ovarian tissues were detected for the expression of GDf15and UPAby immunohistochemical technique. Results:The positive expression rate of GDF15in the ovarian serous cystadenocarcinomawas(73.3%),which was significantly higher than that in the borderline serouscystadenoma (38.9%),benign (5%) and normal ovarian tissues(0%),(P<0.05). Thepositive expression rate of GDF15in the ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinomawas(76.7%),which was significantly higher than that in the borderline mucinouscystadenoma (40%),benign (5%) and normal ovarian tissues(0%),(P<0.05).Theexpression of GDF15between serous and mucinous tumour, has no significantstatistically difference and can be analyzed together. The expression rate of GDF15was associated with differentiation degree of cancer cells, lymphatie metastasis andInternational Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage(P<0.05),not with theother biological eharaeteristies. The ovarian cystadenocarcinoma with higherexpression of GDF15had unfavourable prognosis than those with lower or negativeexpression. The positive expression rate of UPA in the ovarian serous cystadenocarcinomawas(73.3%),which was significantly higher than that in the borderline serouscystadenoma (38.9%),benign (5%) and normal ovarian tissues(0%),(P<0.05). Thepositive expression rate of UPA in the ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinoma was(76.7%),which was significantly higher than that in the borderline mucinouscystadenoma (40%),benign (5%) and normal ovarian tissues(0%),(P<0.05).Theexpression of UPA between serous and mucinous tumour, has no significantstatistically difference and can be analyzed together. The expression rate of UPAwasassociated with differentiation degree of cancer cells, lymphatie metastasis andInternational Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage(P<0.05), not with theother biological eharaeteristies. The ovarian cystadenocarcinoma with higherexpression of UPA had unfavourable prognosis than those with lower or negativeexpression.Conclusion:1.The expression of GDF15in ovarian cystadenocarcinoma was significantlyhigher than that in ovarian cystadenoma, ovarian borderline cystadenoma and normalovarian tissues. The high level of GDF15is the independent poor prognostic factor inovarian cystadenocarcinoma and maybe valuable in the evaluation of the metastasis oftumor in oarian cystadenocarcinoma.2. The expression of UPA in ovarian cystadenocarcinoma was significantlyhigher than that in ovarian cystadenoma, ovarian borderline cystadenoma and normalovarian tissues. The high level of UPA is the poor prognostic factor in ovariancystadenocarcinoma and maybe valuable in the evaluation of the metastasis of tumorin ovarian cystadenocarcinoma.3. The positive correlation between GDF15and UPA expression in humanovarian cystadenocarcinoma indicates that their expression may exist within a kind ofsynergy. And suggesting that the two factors may be through the same way toparticipate in the occurrence, development and transfer process of ovariancystadenocarcinoma.
