Objective:Observing the effects of the moderate and severe Bell’s palsy patient’s facial nerve dysfunction (FND) and physical dysfunction (PD), social dysfunction (SD), when electronic moxibustion (EM) is used at the bilateral "Hegu", bilateral "Shenshu" and "Baihui".Methods:In accordance with the principle of simple and randomized grouping,60 patients meeting the criteria and be brought into the article’s test. Firstly, they are equally divided into two groups:treatment group (TG) and control group (CG). Each group has 30 patients. Then, based on the common acupuncture (CA), we add the EM at the same time to the bilateral "Hegu", bilateral "Shenshu" and "Baihui" acupoints for the therapy of the TG. Both the CA and EM therapies are implemented 30 minutes each time per day from Monday to Saturday and suspended on Sunday. However, for the CG’s therapy, we only adopt a CA to it. All of these treatments are performed six weeks. It must be noted that all patients enrolled in are, before and after the treatment, all tested and assessed by our questionnaires of House-Brackmann (H-B) grading scale., rating scale and facial disability index (FDI). Finally, all the data obtained are collected and edited into the Excel table. The database is established. Based on it, the main problems of this paper’s objective are analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 statistical software. Results:First, the scores’comparisons before and after the treatment for the same group are as follows. The total H-B scores have the significant statistically difference (P<0.01). The scores after treatments are all lower than the scores before treatments. In the factor items’ scores of the H-B facial nerve function, there also are a statistically significant differences (P<0.01). The factor items’ scores of H-B have an obvious decrease after treatment. The scores of FDI physical functions have also significant statistically differences (P<0.01). Their scores are remarkable increasing after treatment. The scores of FDI social functions have also significant statistically differences (P<0.01). Their scores are prominent decreasing after treatment. Second, the scores’ comparisons between the two groups after six weeks’ treatments are the following. According to the H-B grading scale, there are obvious statistically differences (P<0.05) between the final efficacies of the two groups. The total effect of the TG is significantly higher than the effect in the CG. The total H-B scores and FDI social function scores of the TG have an obvious decrease from the scores of the CG. These differences are also significant statistically. Among the H-B factors’ items, the score of the grain item has a significant statistically difference (P<0.01). The four scores of closed eye, nose activity, nasolabial and drum gills have obvious statistically differences (P<0.05). But, the scores of other five H-B items and FDI physical function items are not significant statistically (P>0.05).Conclusion:EM has a significant effect for improving the FND caused by the moderate and severe Bell’s palsy when it is used at the bilateral "Hegu", bilateral "Shenshu" and "Baihui". It also has an obvious effect for the restoration of the patients’ SD, which is arising from the changes of their appearances. This shows that the EM can recuperate "yang" and make a balance between the "yin" and the "yang" when it is used at the acupoints above. |
