Observation On The Immediate Effect Of Qijingtiaoqi Acupuncture In Treating Non-Specific Low Back Pain

Objective:To treat non-specific low back pain by acupuncturing Shenting point with qijingtiaoqi manipulation, compare its immediate effect with those of acupuncturing Weizhong, Shenshu, Ashi and Jiaji, verify the scientificity of guiding acupoint selection by the theory of qijingtiaoqi and provide guidance on acupoints selection and association of acupuncture based on syndrome differentiation.Methods:70 patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,35 cases for each group. The treatment group received acupuncture at Shenting point, while the control group received acupuncture at Ashi point, Weizhong point on the affected side, Shenshu points on both sides and Jiaji point,30 minutes for each point. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Modified Schober were selected to score before and after treatment as objective evaluation indexes and conduct efficacy evaluation after treatment. Also, the acupuncture amounts of the two groups were compared. Finally, SPSS 20.0 was used to perform statistical analysis of the data collected and compare the differences between these two methods based on syndrome differentiation.Results:(1) VAS intra-group comparison:Statistically analysis showed that both groups achieved significant effects on low back pain after treatment (Table 2-4); (2) Lumbar activity intra-group comparison:Statistically analysis showed that both groups could improve limitation of low back movement (Table 2-5); (3) VAS inter-group comparison:Statistically significant showed that after the completion of treatment (table 2-4), there was no statistically significant difference in the alleviation effect for low back pain between the treatment group and the control group; (4) Lumbar activity inter-group comparison (Table 2-5):Statistically significant showed that after the completion of treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the lumbar forward bending between the treatment group and the control group; (5) While achieving the same effect for relieving non-specific low back pain, qijingtiaoqi acupuncture based on syndrome differentiation only needed two needles, but traditional low back pain acupuncture needed 5 to 9 needles. Therefore, qijingtiaoqi acupuncture could ensure the curative effect and had the advantage of saving energy. Furthermore, acupuncture based on syndrome differentiation reflected the characteristics of syndrome differentiation and treatment. Based on patient’s pulse manifestation and the characteristics of various meridians, this method provided specific treatment, returned to the thought of traditional syndrome differentiation and treatment and regained the characteristics of ancient acupuncture theory.Conclusion:Qijingtiaoqi acupuncture at Shenting acupoint has a good curative effect for the treatment of non-specific low back pain. Compared with conventional low back pain acupuncture manipulation, Qijingtiaoqi acupuncture has the features of less acupoint selection, more safety, fewer material consumption, etc. Both methods have equivalent and good efficacy in relieving low back pain and improving limitation of lumbar forward bending.Acupuncture based on syndrome differentiation is also one of the features of the research project. According to the characteristics of patient’s pulse manifestation, it uses specific acupuncture manipulation, stresses the importance of acupuncture based on syndrome differentiation in clinic, inherits and develops the features of traditional Chinese medicine theory, and provides a new thought and way for the clinical treatment of low back pain and even other diseases by acupuncture.
