Purpose:To evaluate the preoperativevision related health quality-of-life(VRQoL) and depression of Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD) patients, with investigating influence factors and the correlation of them. All of those are to provideimportant theoretical basis for improveing the quality of life or psychological intervention. Methods:By cross-sectional study,58 RRD subjects were selected for RRD groud, according to 1:1 matching principle, other 58 subjects without Serious eye disease were setted for control groud. The visual function, proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR) and other clinical characters were collected. The preoperative VRQoL and depression of two grouds were assessed byChinese version of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire (CHI-VFQ-25) and Beck Depression Inventory-II(BDI-II) respectively.Result:The preoperative VRQoL scores were significantly lower in the RRD group as compared to the Control group(P<0.001). The older is a high risk factor for the lower VRQoL (rs=-0.335,P<0.01), in addition to, the higher LogMAR score in sick eyes, more serious of PVRand longer course of the disease, will lead to a lower VRQoL. The depression rate of RRD group (39.66%)was significantly higher than the Control group(5.17%)(P<0.001), course of the disease as a significant independent influence factor was found for the high rate (rs=0.268,P<0.001). Besides, VRQoL plays a equal important role in depression (rs=-0.539,P<0.01).Conclusions:RRD patients suffered with lower preoperative VRQoL and high rate of depression. Under the influence of age or other clinical characters, the VRQoL of RRD patients decrease significantly. The VRQoL results in depressionprobably, meanwhile, will be more severely impaired with depression.
