| ObjectivesAcne is one of the most common disfigured disease in Dermatology. In the pathogenesis of acne, hyperandrogenitic level, Propionibacterium acnes, the keratization of hair follicular opening are the major factors. A large number of epidemiological studies show that sleep is a risk factor for the incidence of acne. In the ancient Chinese traditional medicine timing unit, the ancients believed that in twelve hours, midnight is particularly important. At this time the Gallbladder plays a leading role in the activities of the body, "Eleven organs are all depended upon the Gallbladder ", If people sleep well at this time, qi and blood of the gallbladder meridian will be enough, the other organs will be running well. Yang qi arises at Midnight, at the same time yin and Yang are interacting. Sleeping at midnight can make Yang qi hidden in the body at this time. Yin and Yang will be alternating well and reaching balance if sleeping well at midnight. This study intends to preliminarily explore the relation between sleep (including sleep duration and bedtime) and serum testosterone, estradiol level〠TCM syndrome type distribution of ault acne women by the method of cross sectional study.MethodsThe researches is from December 2014 to August 2015. All cases are from the outpatient Department of Dermatology of Guangdong Province Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital. All cases are ault acne women according with selected standard. All patients filled out questionnaires which made by ourselves. The questionnaires includes general situation (age, duration, severity, menstruation) 〠sleep (sleep time, wake time, actual sleep duration), level of testosterone and estradiol,TCM Syndromes and the factors that affect hormone levels (the frequency of drinking milk, emotion and pressure). After collected valid questionnaires and obtained data, we analyzed the correlation of sleep hours and the level of testosterone and estradiol by correlartion analysis, used Spearman correlation test to describe the degree of correlation with Spearman rank correlation coefficient. We analyzed correlation between bedtime and the distribution of TCM syndromes by correlation analysis, firstly made cross contingency table, then used Fisher exact test, and used Fisher correlation coefficient to describe correlation.Results1. There was a significant negative correlation between sleep duration and the testosterone levels in adult acne women(rs=-0.220, P< 0.05), and there was a negative correlation between sleep duration and the levels of estradiol (rs=-0.173, P< 0.05). There was no correlation between the level of testosterone and estradiol and the time of falling asleep.2.Emotion〠pressure and the level of testosterone and estradiol shows no correlation in adult acne women.3. There was no correlation between the distribution of TCM Syndrome Types and sleep of adult acne women.4. There was no correlation between sleep(including sleep duration and bedtime) and emotion〠pressure of adult acne women.ConlusionThe level of serum testosterone and estradiol in adult female patients with acne decreased with the increase of sleep duration, and the estradiol level increased with the increase of testosterone levels. Correlation analysis between sleep(includingsleep durationandbedtime) and sex hormone level and TCM syndrome type distribution depends on a larger sample size and a more rigorous research and design program. |
