Objective:To evaluate and compare the effect of two kinds of health education which was given to CHD in-patients on their CHD related knowledge and CHD self-management behavior. Methods:A quasi-experimental study was adopted. Two cardiovascular units were conveniently selected in a three level of first-class hospital in Hangzhou.80 subjects participated in the study were divided into two groups. The intervention group was given the health education based on the forgetting curve while the control group was given the hospital routine health education. The score of coronary heart disease related knowledge were collected at four points:before health education(after admission),7 days after admission,30 days after admission and 3 months after admission. The data of coronary heart disease self-management behavior were collected at two points:before health education and 3 months after admission.Result:78 subjects completed data collection procedures,39 subjects in intervention group and 39 subjects in control group. The score on coronary heart disease related knowledge of intervention group on three points time which were 7 days after admission,30 days after admission and 3 months after admission intervention group were higher than the control group(p<0.01). The score of coronary heart disease related knowledge in both groups had reached the highest level at 7 days after admission. The coronary heart disease score of intervention group at 30 days after admission and 7days after admission have no significant statistically difference (P>0.05), while the coronary heart disease related knowledge score of the control group at 30 days after admission is lower than 7 days after admission(P<0.01). The score of coronary heart disease self-management behavior of the intervention group is higher than the control group at 3 months after admission(P<0.01). The score of daily life management behavior dimension have no significant statistically difference between the two groups(P>0.05). The score on medical disease management dimension and emotional dimension of the intervention group were higher than the control group(p< 0.01).Conclusion:The health education based on forgetting curve is better than hospital routine health education in increasing CHD-related knowledge and CHD self-management behavior and it also can make CHD-related knowledge stay longer in CHD patients’memory.
