Background: The rate of Osteoporosis proves high among aged people, and literature shows that coronary heart disease is a risk factor of Osteoporosis. However, the level of Knowledge, Health belief and Self-efficacy related to Osteoporosis among the aged group is poor. In order to prevent patients with coronary heart disease from Osteoporosis, physicians from Cardio- vascular,Orthopedics, Nutriology and Nurse staff need to be organized to a multi-disciplinary health educationon group to help those patients. It is necessary to evaluate the effect of multidisciplinary Health Education on patients with coronary heart disease on Osteoporosis related Knowledge, Health belief and Self-efficacy.Objective:To evaluate and compare the effects of two kinds of health education on patients with coronary heart disease.Methods:A quasi-experimental study was adopted. Two Cardiovascular units were conveniently selected in a three level of first-class hospital in Hangzhou. 72 subjects participated in the study and they were divided into two groups.The control group was given health edueation only by nurse staff while the intervention group was given health education by multi- disciplinary team which included nurses staff, doctors from departments of cardiology, orthopedics,nutrition,nurse etc. The content and duration of curriculum 2 groups received appeared identical,including face to face guidance beside hospital beds, 1 telephone guidance and distributing health education manual. Data were collected at four points:before and after face to face guidance,first month and third month after face to face guidance. The outeome measures included: knowledge of osteoporosis, health belief of osteoporosis, self-efficacy of osteoporosis,daily dietary Ca intake,the number of patients who consulted osteoporosis clinics/ tested bone mineral density.Results: 67 subjects completed data collection procedures,33 subjects in control group and 34 subjects in intervention group. Compared with baseline data,all of the seore of the testing index of two groups increased significantly after face to face guidance and 1 month after face to face guid-ance(p<0.05); all the index of intervetion group were higher than control group(p<0.05).The patients in intervention group made more progress than the one in control group(p<0.05).Conclusion: The effect of multi-disciplinary team interventions is better by increasing knowledge of osteoporosis, health belief of osteoporosis, self-effieacy of osteoporosis, the number ofpatients who consulted osteoporosis clinics/tested bone mineral density.
