This study aims at the strategy of mid-aged and elderly people’s self-health management. The purpose is to investigate the self-health management motive, health resources, content, factors, and the related strategies for mid-aged and elderly people. The study uses qualitative research method.Conclusions:1. The motives of the self-health management include:helping others with their knowledge of self-health management, promoting health, not becoming children’s burden, and preventing diseases.2. The health resources of the self-health management include:the media, health forums and lectures, Internet, magazines and publications, and related community workshops.3. Three main categories of the self-health management:physiology, psychology, and society, and the interrelationship among them.4. The influential factors of the self-health management include:excessive information on the Internet, the lack of transportation and personal free time, over-commercialized health programs and activities on the media, and the ineffective communication between the mid-aged and elderly and the medical professionals.5. The strategies of the mid-aged and elderly on self-health management are:1) Physiological health management includes clear communications with the medical professionals, the correct medication instruction, regular exercise, diet control, the prevention of diseases, the use of adequate healthy food, seeking the related information of health, following physician’s instructions, and the learning from diseases.2) Psychological health management includes forgiving others, positive thinking and being grateful, seeking emotional support from religion, friends, family, focusing on different aspects and staying positive in facing diseases.3) Social health management includes building up interpersonal relations, building up communication skills, and participating social activities, social services and religious activities.
