Health Management Of Chronic Diseases In Community Of Fengtai District, Beijing

Chronic non-communicable diseases refer to a general term of non-communicable disorders characterized by long latent periods, lying beyond self-curing or hard for remedy once attacking. Chronic diseases whom ever reckoned as a leading threat to health, have held a pivot position in public hygiene issues, considering its high incidence, outstanding mortality, low acquaintance rate, unfavorable control rate and heavy financial burden. The administration of chronic diseases by community health service centers has been generally acknowledged as a crucial strategy to control chronic diseases by WHO.In order to explore matters appearing in managing chronic diseases in Fengtai District, Beijing City, the study carried out questionnaire investigations aimed to 301 diabetics and(or) hypertensive patients who had visited the 14 community health service centers in Fengtai District, as well as 192 medical workers taking charge of chronic diseases there. The results revealed that: the principal problems existing in the health administration of chronic diseases in Fengtai District involved that :(1)Further modified service patterns shall be put on the agenda in community health service centers;(2) There indicated the deficient awareness of the significance in popularizing self-management of chronic diseases among community residents;(3)Chinese medicine remained up to hold the balance in preserving from and resisting chronic diseases;(4) It highlighted in chronic diseases that onerous follow-up requirements, relatively lack in medical and nursing resources.(5) Skills and competence in prevention and control organizations are still excepted to achieve a higher level;(6)Insights into health administrations of chronic diseases have been waiting for reinforcement in the prevention and control organizations;(7)It was the uneven distributions of performance and harvest that interfered activity of chronic-disease prevention and control organizations;(8) Failing in realizing thorough associations of informative diagnosis and remedy systems between communities and hospitals, has brought about disconnections of clinical data;(9) The community’s hardware and software investment is not enough, the lack of necessary inspection equipment and drugs.Relevant suggestions derived from 3 aspects have been proposed, which principally referred to the administrations in the government and community,meanwhile the chronic patients.
