Objective:To describe the situation of occupational burnout of pediatric nurses and analyze its associated influence factors in a major hospital, and to provide references for nursing management. Methods:All pediatric nurses in the hospital were surveyed from July to August in 2014 with questionnaires, including General Condition Questionnaire and The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI).Epidata 3.1 statistical software was applicated to establish the database and SPSS 15.0 statistics software was carried on to completed the statistical analysis. Count data was expressed as ratio or proportion, and measurement data was expressed as x±s. The main statistical methods including descriptive statistics, and using t test or ANOVA for average comparison between/among the groups; using binary Logistic regression analysis to do the statistical analysis to explore the relationship between various influencing factors and occupational burnout.Results:1. The each dimension score of occupational burnout:there is significant difference between the average score of emotional exhaustion (29.37±8.07) and American norm (t=11,32, P<0.01); the average score of depersonalization (10.21±5.19) was slightly higher than American norm (t=7.14, P<0.01); the average score of personal accomplishment (29.96±7.56) was significantly lower than the norm(t=13.89,P<0.01).Compared with national norm, there is significant difference in the level of emotional exhaustion(t=10.64, P<0.01)and depersonalization(t=8.91, P<0.01); there is no significant difference in the level of (t=1.23, P>0.01).2. The status of occupational burnout:Overall,,88.17% was positive occupational burnout among 186 nurses.36.02% was mild burnout,39.2% was moderate burnout, and 12.91% was highly burnout.3.The binary logistic regression analysis for occupational burnout:compared with length of service<5 years,5-10 years old group were more prone to burnout (OR=1.621,95%CI:1.302,3.241). the positive rate of burnout among nurses with junior college(OR=1.191,95%CI: 1.016,2.241) or higher education levels ((OR=1.524,95%CI:1.268,1.792) was higher than those among nurses with below education levels; Compared with nurses having day shifts, the risk of burnout among nurses having night shifts was 1.964 times (P=0.016).Conclusion:1. The positive rate of occupational burnout was high, and Occupational Burnout of our study subjects focused on light or moderate levels.2. The average score of depersonalization and emotional exhaustion was high in occupational burnout.3. The length of 5-10 years service, higher level of education and the night shift were risk factors for occupational burnout.4. Age, marital status, employment forms, job titles and other factors did not affect the occurrence of occupational burnout.
