Objective:To analyze the main differences of clinical characteristics of patients with colorectal cancer between the main city and the non-main city in The Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University during the year 2003-2012.Methods:Collecting the age, gender, colorectal ratio (CR value) histological type, Dukes staging, etc. from 1,040 cases of patients who pathologically diagnose with colorectal cancer for the first time in the hospital during the year of 2003-2012, to find out the main differences in clinical characteristics of patients with colorectal cancer between the main city and the non-main city.Results:The average age of patients with colorectal cancer of the main city was 64.27±12.806, and 58.66±13.392 of the non-main city (P<0.05). The proportion of youth in the non-main city was higher than that of the main city, while the proportion of the elderly group was below (P<0.05); Both male multiple. The male to female ratio of colorectal cancer patients fell from 4.0 to 0.96 (P<0.05) in non-main city when compared the date of the year 2003 to 2012, while that of the main city did not change significantly (P> 0.05), it means that the proportion of female patients in non-main city was growing. There were significant differences between female and male on the location of the colorectal cancer patients in the main city (P<0.05); while not in the non-main city (P> 0.05). The colorectal cancer was more likely to located in the right colon of female in the main city, while men more distributed in the left colon.The colorectal cancer’s CR was 0.64 in the main city, and that of the non-main city was 0.34(P<0.05). There were significant differences of the CR among different ages.The main pathological types were differentiated adenocarcinoma. Non-main city was dominated with Dukes B (34.4%), the main city with Dukes C (33.7%).Conclusion:The proportion of colon cancer in the main city was significantly higher than the non-main city. A proximal shift in the anatomical distribution of colorectal cancer has occurred in chongqing.
