| Objetive: The purpose of this investigation was to analyze by cross-sectional design the association between serum Interleukin-17(IL-17) and estradiol(E2) status and periodontitis in postmenopausal women,to discuss the alteration and the meaning of Interleukin-17 and estradiol occurred in patients with the evolve chronic periodontitis, and provide treatment reference that IL-17 as a target and estrogen replacement therapy for periodontitis in postmenopausal women. Methods:We recruited accordanced with thediagnostic criteria and inclusion criteria for the study, including 32 patients with chronic periodontitis((including 12E2-defieient subjects and 20 E2-suffieient subjects) and 32 healthy controls, all within7 years after menopause,Venous blood 5ml, and the serum of each women was separated.Clinical measurements were recorded.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used to detect the levels of IL-17 in serum, Electrochemilu minescence immunoassay(ECL)was used to detect the levels of estradiol in serum. Results : 1 〠The concentration of IL-17 in serum with CP was49.64±9.30pg/ml;The concentration of IL-17 in serum with in healthy persons was19.88±7.36pg/ml,which was significant lower than that of the CP. Positive correlation was found between IL-17 level and clinical measurements(PD,AL and BI).The correlation coefficient were 0.383,(p=0.031);0.522,(p=0.002);0.594,(p=0.000).2ã€The concentration of estradiol in serum with CP is 24.06±12.26pg/ml;The concentration of estradiol in serum with in healthy persons is 26.87±12.57pg/ml,05).No significant diffirence was found between the concentration of estradiol in serum with CP and healthy persons.Date dindicated that PD and BI were not different between E2- dificient and E2-sufficient subjects. E2- dificient peridontitis subjects had a high AL.3ã€Date dindicated that the concentration of IL-17 in serum were different between E2- dificient and E2-sufficient subjects.Conclusion:1ã€There existed IL-17 in serum of periodontitis patients in postmenopausal women, The concentration of IL-17 in periodontitis was significantly lower than in healthy persons. It was identical that the level of IL-17 in serum with the improvement of the degree of periodontal inflammation, and it call be regarded as beneficial indexes that reflect the status of periodontitis.2ã€E2 deficieney may be a risk factor for postmenopausal women with CP.3ã€The concentration of serum IL- 17 rising along with the reducing of E2 for postmenopausal women with CP.estrogen has inhibitory effect to the IL- 17, the lack of estrogen can lead to an increased level of the expression of IL-17. |
