Effect Of Yaotongning Capsule On MMP-3、IL-1β And TGF-β1 In Serum Of Patients With Lumbar Osteoarthritis

Objectives The main purpose of the research is to observe the effects of Yaotongning capsule on the contents of matrix metalloproteinases,interleukin in serum and transforming growth factor of patient with lumbar osteoarthritis and to explore clinical curative mechanism of this medicine from the angle of cell factor.Methods A total of 108 patients with lumbar osteoarthritis, who visited to department of rheumatology outpatient of Hebei United University affiliated Hospital were collected.The patients are according to lumbar osteoarthritis in the Western diagnostic criteria and inclusioncriteria. This test was institution alreview board approved, and each participant signed the written consents. Separate 108 patients into three groups-treatment group A(4 Yaotongning capsules), treatment group B(6 Yaotongning capsules) and control group(Bitongning capsules) by using the methods of random, double blind and control study. And each group has 36 patients. Before and after treatment, enzyme-linked immunosorbent method was used to detect MMP-3, IL-1β and TGF-β1 levels. The data obtained using the Excel entry, and used SPSS13.0 for data processing and analysis.Results After the treatment, three groups of patients with the content of MMP-3 and IL-1βwere lower than before,treatment group B droped more than the other two groups(P<0.01). After the treatment, three groups of patients with MMP-3 are 74.91±10.09ng/L, 66.09±8.78ng/L, 78.38±6.47ng/L; After the treatment, three groups of patients with IL-1β are 15.64±1.85ng/L, 13.94±1.67ng/L, 16.23±1.44ng/L. The content of TGF-β1 of these patients in three groups has been increased. At the same time, there is a dramatic difference between treatment group B and treatment group A or control group( P<0.01). Besides, the changes of content in treatment group A and control group are similar(P>0.05). In the TGF-β1 and IL-1β, MMP-3 content had no significant correlation.Conclusions In conclusion, Yaotongning capsule is beneficial to increase the level of TGF-β1 and relieve the reaction of inflammation by restraining patients’ expression of MMP-3 and IL-1β. Therefore, it is one of the mechanism of actions of this medicine in treating LOA.
