Abstract/Summary:
Objective Including odontogenic cyst, cyst of facial fissure and odontogenic keratocyst,Jaw cystic lesion is a kind of common disease in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The mandibular jaw cystic lesion was the most common one. At present the most commonly used clinical treatment method is cyst excision. But there will leave varied size bone cavity after cystectomy of the jaw, which is one of the common reasons for jaw defect, it will affect patients with maxillofacial function, beauty and quality of life. Through the experiments we made rabbit mandibular defect animal model, implant Yunnan Baiyaogelatin sponge composite into the defect area, and analyz and evaluat Yunnan Baiyao effectiveness of bone healing by the gross anatomy observation, the X-ray film, the bone density detection, and histological analysis evaluation method to study the influence of topical application of Yunnan Baiyao on rabbit mandibular bone defect area, and provide the experimental basis for the mechanism of the effect of Yunnan Baiyao on healing of bone defect for the clinical treatment of alveolar bone absorption, shorten the healing time, which will improve the quality of life of patients and solve clinical problems in future.Methods 36 adult healthy rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups, namely, the experimental group, control group and blank group. 10 mm x 8 mm size box of bone defects were made in all animals mandibular body, the experimental group implanted Yunnan Baiyao-gelatin sponge composite, the control group implanted empty gelatin sponge, The blank group did not deal with defects, suture the incision, postoperative intramuscular injection of penicillin to prevent postoperative infection. After 2, 4, 8weeks, 4 animal in each group were sacrificed respectively effectiveness of bone defects healing was analyzed and evaluated by the gross anatomy observation, X-ray film, bone density detection, and histological method. Reserch and compare the area of bone defect of new tissue in different experimental period(2, 4, 8 weeks).Results 1 There was no obvious signs of infection in the area of experimental animals,incisions healed well. 2 Comparison of bone density measurement: the experimental group is higher than the other two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). 3 HE staining observation results: the experimental group show better effects no matter in bone trabecular number, distribution rules or new bone maturation than the other groups. 4 Gross anatomy specimens’ observation and X-ray support the above results.Conclusion The experiment prove that Yunnan Baiyao can accelerate obviously rabbit mandibular defect healing, and it has a good prospect of clinical application.
