On The Clinical Research Of Ankylosing Spondylitis With Tongbi Shujin Pill Treatment

Objective: By observing the clinical efficacy and safety of the clinical treatment of ankylosing spondylitis(AS) patients with Tongbi Shujin pill and comparing it to Yishen Juanbi Pill, the author tries to explore a safe and effective clinical approach to the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis(AS) with Tongbi Shujin pill.Methods: With randomized controlled approach, 60 cases of ankylosing spondylitis patients who attended the Orthopedics Ward of the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan College of Chinese Medicine from February 2014 to December 2014 were taken into investigation. They were randomly divided into 2 groups: 30 cases for Tongbi Shujin pill treatment(treatment group),another 30 cases for Yishen Juanbi pill treatment(control group),and took continuous medication for two months as a treatment course。 Then the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index(BASDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index(BASFI), pain VAS scores and spinal mobility and secondary outcomes before and after treatment were compared and its data was observed and analyzed by using statistical software SPSS17.0.Results:(1) A statistical analysis on the age, gender, disease duration, and all baseline data of the 60 cases before treatment showed no significant statistical significance(P>0.05) for both groups and indicated the homogeneity and comparability between the two groups.(2) After the treatment, the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index(BASDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index(BASFI), and spinal pain VAS score degree and secondary outcomes of both groups were promoted, especially the key indicators(expect for thoracic activity) and secondary indicators of Tongbi shujin pill treatment group were improved significantly. Statistical analysis showed the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05), proving that both Tongbi Shujin Pill and Yishen Juanbi pill can improve the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis AS disease activity index(BASDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index(BASFI), spinal pain VAS score degree and secondary outcome measures of the patients, but the effect of Tongbi shujin pill is more obvious;(3) Safety observation: all the patients of the 2 groups completed the experiment with no adverse events or adverse reactions happened to them.Conclusion: Tongbi Shujin pill can significantly improve the AS Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index(BASDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index(BASFI), pain VAS scores and spinal mobility(expect for thoracic activity) and secondary outcome measures of the AS patients, moreover, its treatment is better than Yishen Juanbi pills.
