Objective: The congential entropion is an uncommon anomalycharacterized by an inward rolling of the entire lower eyelid toward the globe.Because the corneal abrasion and even visual impairment are caused by theinverted eyelashes, congential entropion need to be corrected. Although thiskind of congenital structure anomaly of eyelids takes various forms, themethod of operation is universal uniformity. These traditional surgicalprocedures not only bring patients a high recurernce rate, but also cannotimprove eyelid morphology. So the more effective treatments will be achievedif we can carry out operation from different methods. Through theindividualized operation, not only a perfect appearance will be gotten, but therecovery rate of congenital entropion will be increased because of consideringthe pathogeny. Methods: Data from150patients (285eyes) suffered from congenitalentropion with different pathogenesis between September2012andSeptember2014were analyzed in this study. In our research, theindividualized operations were performed, including the improved incision andsuture surgery for simple congenital entropion, removing the skin of lowereyelid for congenital entropion with redundant skin of lower eyelid but withoutepicanthus, the improved correction of entropion associated with “Y-V”epicanthoplasty for congenital full-length or half-length entropion associated with epicanthus and the recession of lower eyelid retractor for congenitalentropion associated with lower eyelid retraction. Results: The evaluation of curative effect was based on a serious ofcriterions, such as the direction of eyelash extension, visible scar, eyelidmorphology, recovery of cornael epithelium, recurrence rate and patientsatisfaction. All cases were followed up6months to1year. Not only were theeyelashes spread foreupward and eyelid morphology good, but also norecurrence and visible scar. The corneal injury would be recovery gradually. The patient evaluation of satisfaction was98.6%.Conclusion:It is not only the reoccurrence rate and complications thatare reduced, but the degree of satisfaction is served to a large extent by theseindividualized operation in the treatment of various congenital entropion.
