Objective: Through the clinical efficacy on the massage for relaxing spastic muscles and stimulating the antagonistic muscle for treatment of spastic cerebral palsy, and by observing the efficacy of treating spastic cerebral palsy on the basis of using the massage for relaxing spastic muscles and stimulating the antagonistic muscle and by improving the power of antagonistic muscle so as to make it clear that the effectiveness of utilizing the massage for relaxing spastic muscles and stimulating the antagonistic muscle for treatment of spastic cerebral palsy which provides a therapeutic method with good curative effect for spastic cerebral palsy children. Methods: Select 59 children with spastic cerebral palsy who were in the children rehabilitation clinic center of the first affiliated hospital of Henan University of TCM from April 2014 to March 2015. Whereas 55 finished the whole research and 4 lost, they were randomly divided into a treatment group(n=29) and a control group(n=26). The massage for relaxing spastic muscles and stimulating the antagonistic muscle is applied for the treatment group, and Bobath is used in the control group. Both groups are applied basic treatments such as physical therapy, acupuncture and herbal fumigation etc, course of treatment are 8 weeks. All children in two groups were assessed with Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM), muscle tension and the range of joint improved situation and TCM syndrome grade before and after treatment. During the whole treatment, adverse events or complications in these children were observed and were recorded detailedly in the clinic research form. Results: ①The comparison of the whole GMFM percentage between two groups after the treatment, Z=-2.082,P=0.014(P<0.05), which had a statistically significant difference, so as to prove that the whole GMFM percentage of the treatment group was higher than the control group’s. ②After the treatment, muscle tension of all the children compared to the same group before treatment had different degrees of improvement. The treatment group was 0.90±0.67, and the control group was 1.38±0.70. The two groups had a statistically significant difference(P<0.05). ③Compared to the same group, range of motion in all children of two groups were improved to varying degree(P<0.05) after treatment, and the comparison of femoro-tibial angle, popliteal angle, foot dorsiflexion angle between two groups had a statistically significant difference(P<0.05), which showed that the range of motion improvement situation in treatment group is better than the control group. The clinic ④curative effect comparison between two groups, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 86.2%, and 61.5% in the control group. The clinic curative effect in the treatment was better than the control group’s(P<0.05). ⑤TCM syndrome grade of the treatment group was improved obviously before and after treatment(P<0.01),whereas the control group didn’t have same effect(P>0.05). After the treatment, the comparison of the total effective rate of TCM syndrome grade between two groups, the treatment group was significantly better than the control group(P<0.01), which showed that the massage for relaxing spastic muscles and stimulating the antagonistic muscle in improving TCM syndrome was better than the control group’s.Conclusion: Both kinds of massage can improve the gross motor function, muscle tension and range of motion in children with cerebral palsy, and the curative effect of the group with the massage for relaxing spastic muscles and stimulating the antagonistic muscle is better than the control group. Meanwhile, the massage for relaxing spastic muscles and stimulating the antagonistic muscle can improve the children’ TCM syndrome, physique and life quality which means it is effective in treating spastic cerebral palsy and it can be used in the clinic.
