| Objective: Stroke is one of the most three serious diseases. To different extent, 70%-80% of the patients with cerebral apoplexy will be disability and losing the ability to live independently, nearly 10% of which are severely/profoundly handicapped who have to live fully depending on the others. Therefore, we must carry on the treatment of acupuncture on the patient after stroke immediately. The study is to observe the effect and safety of acupuncture on spastic paralysis after stroke in order to find a effective and safe remedy. Methods: The study chose patients with spastic paralysis after stroke to make a prospective investigation. According to the time they visited the doctor, patients would be randomly assigned into antagonist muscle group and agonistic muscle group, each of which had 30 patients, who would be given an acupuncture treatment of strong stimulation on antagonist muscles and agonistic muscles respectively for four weeks.Result: General information of the two groups (60 patients in total), including age, sex and course of diseases, pathogeny, had no significant difference(P>0.05); and therefore the two groups were comparable.According the curative effect standard of Zhao Jianguo, both the two groups after treated were an improvement upon before. The total effective rate of antagonist muscle group was 83%, its cure rate 7%, excellence rate 23%, effective rate .53%; while agonistic muscle those of group was 77%, 3%, 17%, 57% respectively, significant divergence was shown between the groups(P<0.05). Antagonist muscle group was more effective than agonistic muscle group.Based on brief Ashworth value, CSI and ADL index, function of the two groups ameliorated. However, brief Ashworth value, CSI and ADL index of the two groups showed significant differences(P<0.05), which proved that the effect of antagonist muscle group was better than agonistic muscle group. According Fugl-Meyer value and upper limb function index, movement function of the 60 patients were improved, meanwhile, which of antagonist muscle group was significant improved than the agonistic muscle group(P<0.05). The lower limbs function index of the two groups were improved after treatment, but there was no significant differences(P>0.05).Conclusion: It turned out that acupuncturing on antagonistic muscle or agonistic muscle could preferably ameliorate the muscular tension, spasmodism index, movement and ability of daily life (ADL) function ; but the antagonistic muscle group was much better than the agonistic muscle group after treatment. Furthermore, in respect of curative effect, the total effective rate was 83% in antagonistic muscle group and 77% in agonistic muscle group, indicating that there was a significant difference between them(P<0.05) and suggesting that acupuncturing on antagonistic muscle was more effective than agonistic muscle. |
