Objective: To observe the clinical advantage of Round-sharp Needle in treatments of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy(CSR) of nerve root type by Ploy-acupuncturing on Ashi Points about tendon knots, looking for a kind of therapy with obvious curative effect, simple operation and high security. Methods: 60 patients with Cervical Spondylosis of nerve root type were randomly divided into Round Needle Therapy Group and Common Acupuncture Group, 30 cases each. The Round Needle Therapy Group was given round-sharp needle therapy via Poly-Prick skill once a week, 4 times at most. The Common Acupuncture Group was given filiform needle acupuncture, once per two days. Ashi points which adjoined to tendon nodules were chosen as the prick points in two groups. In addition, normal points and Jiaji points were also selected in the Common Acupuncture Group. Their therapeutic effects were compared for assessment at the end of courses of treatment. Results: 10 patients were cured and 17 patients were effective in Round Needle Therapy Group with the total effective rate of 90%. 2 patients were cured and 23 patients were effective in Common Acupuncture Group with the total effective rate of 83.3%. There was a significant difference between them(P<0.05). Comparison of combined scorings after the treatment showed that the difference was statistically significant between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of Poly-acupuncture with Blunt Tip Round Needle was better than that of Filiform Needle Acupuncture.
