Clinical Observation If The Treatment Of Post Stroke Depression(PSD)with Scalp Acupuncture Drawing Method

Objective This study aimed to identify the therapeutic effect of the scalp acupuncture drawing method in treating post stroke depression.Methods 60 patients with diagnosis standards and criteria of post stroke depression were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group mainly using scalp acupuncture drawing method, the acupuncture was applied to MS5, MS1, MS2(double), MS3(double), according to the differential diagnosis principle, acupoints Ganshu(BL18), Danshu(BL19), Xinshu(BL15), Pishu(BL20) were added when needed. The control group was treated with normal acupuncture, the acupoints were Shenmen(HT7), Dalin(PC7), Neiguan(PC6), Qimen(LR14), Xinshu(BL15), Hegu(LI4), Taichong(LR3), and Ganshu(BL18), Danshu(BL19), Pishu(BL20) were added when needed according to the differential diagnosis principle. All the patinets were evaluated by multi-model approach to diagnosis of PSD(MMADD) and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) Rating Scale before treatment,2 and 4 weeks after treatment, Barthel index score was evaluated before and after treatment.Result 1.2 weeks afer the treatment, the MMADD and TCM Rating score of the treatment group was better than the control group (P<0.05).2.4 weeks after the treatment, both group can effectively alleviate the depressive symptoms. The score of MMADD and TCM Rating decreased significantly (P<0.05). The difference between two group is no significant (P> 0.05). Both groups can effectively improve the activities of daily living and the ability of activities of the patients, the Barthel index scores were significantly increased (P< 0.05);Treatment group is better than control group in improving the activities/abilities of daily living of patients (P<0.01).3. The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group were 90.00% and 86.67% respectively (P> 0.05).Conclusion The scalp acupuncture darwing method can relieve the patient’s symptoms of depression and also can improve the activities/abilities of daily living and life quality of the patients. It may has certain guiding effect for the promotion of the treatment of post stroke depression with scalp acupuncture drawing method.
