Objective To detect the expression and study the significance of IMP3and p16in NCE、CIN、SCC、BEG、AIS、ECA, and to analyze their correlations.Methods HE method and Immunohistochemical method was used to detect theexpression of IMP3protein and p16in20cases of Normal cervicalepithelium(NCE)、35cases of Cervical intraepithelial neoplasm(CIN)and50cases ofSquamous cervical carcinoma(SCC), were detected by immunohistochemistry SPmethod,The expressions of proteins of IMP3and P16in25cases of benignendocervical glands(BEG),10cases of endocervical adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS)and50cases of invasive endocervical adenocarcinoma (ECA). Results The positiveexpression rates of IMP3in NCE、CIN and SCC were0%、37.1%、90%respectively.The differences could be observed very significantly(P﹤0.05). The expression ofIMP3was positively related to the degree of cervical lesion(r=0.537,P=0.0000). Thepositive expression rates of p16in NCE、CIN and SCC were0%、82.8%、92%respectively. In SCC, the expression of IMP3and p16correlated with histologicalgrading(P﹤0.05),The expression of IMP3and p16was positively related(r=0.393,p=0.005). The positive rates of IMP3were16.00%(4/25)in BEG、90%(9/10)in AIS、78.00%(39/50)in ECA respectively,the statistical significantcorrelation of them was shown(P<0.05); The positive expressions of P16INK4awere0.00%(0/25)in BEG、100%(10/10)in AIS、82.00%(41/50)in ECA respectively,the statistical significance of them was shown(P<0.05). At the same time,thesignificant correlation of positive expression of IMP3and P16INK4awas shown (P<0.01) between in AIS or ECA and in BEG, respectively. The positive expressionrate of IMP3and P16INK4ain serous adenocarcinoma (100%,3/3and100%,3/3) washigher than in the cervical type adenocarcinoma (76.19%,32/42and83.33%,35/42)and endometrial type adenocarcinoma (80.00%,4/5and60.00%,4/5) in ECA. Fromhigh to middle to low differentiated ECA,the positive rates of IMP3were60.00%(9/15) to80.95%(17/21) to92.86%(13/14). A significant correlation of IMP3and P16INK4awas not shown between in different age, categories of cell type,differentiated degree and FIGO stages(P>0.05). In50cases of ECA, the commonexpressions of IMP3and P16INK4awere32cases. Kappa value of Chi-squarecorrelation analysis was0.002. The positive expressions of IMP3were7cases in9cases with negative expression of P16INK4a. However, the positive expression ofP16INK4awas9cases in11cases with negative expression IMP3.2cases of smalldeviation adenocarcinoma only positive expressed IMP3. IMP3and P16wereimportant proteins in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant epitheliallesion of the uterine cervix.The positive expression of IMP3in ECA increased fromhigh to low differentiation.Conclusions The positive expression of IMP3protein andp16in NCE、CIN、SCC and BEG、AIS、ECA was significantly increased,theoccurrence and development of cervical carcinoma related P16has been used inthe clinical judgment of the progress of cervical lesions, the combined detection ofIMP3protein and p16may improve the sensitivity of cancer,their are importantproteins in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant epithelial lesion of theuterine cervix, they may play a complementary role.
