Abstract/Summary:
This research is based on literature search, data statistical analysis method as well asfrequency analysis and association rules, and finally filters out the representatives ofexpectorant herbs—Banxia and jiegeng. Besides, we explored the effect and mechanism ofexpectorant herbs on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats through animalexperiment study. We established the model of pulmonary fibrosis in rats, and made reserch fromaspects of pathology, pharmacology, cell factors, oxidative stress and gene expression. TheSPF level32healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into4groups: blank controlgroup (group A),model group (group B),expectorant herbal treatment group (groupC),prednisone treatment group(Group D). Dropping bleomycin into trachea method wasadopted to establish the rat model of pulmonary fibrosis. Each group was given normalbreeding and corresponding drug treatment respectively, sacrificed after28days.Then weobserved the lung tissue pathology changes. RT-PCR detection method was used to detectthe expression levels of VEGF-mRNA in lung tissue, fluorescence method for thedetermination of serum GSH, SOD of changes, immunohistochemistry method for themeasurement of expression levels in PDGF lung tissue. Finally we used Elisa assay tomeasure expression levels in lung tissue TGF-β1, TNF-α and IL-8.The results of animal experiment show that expectorant herbs can improvepathological changes of lung tissue and above-mentioned measurements in rats, and have acertain advantage compared to the prednisone in some ways. This suggests that expectorantherbs have therapeutic effect on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis.we speculate thatexpectorant herbs may prevent and treat the pulmonary fibrosis through reduceinginflammation, correcting the oxidation/antioxidant imbalance, regulating cellular immune function and reducing pulmonary vascular remodeling.
