Objective:To investigate the relationship between CYP17 rs743572 gene polymorphism and breast cancer susceptivity in Uygur and Han race. Method:Using the polymerasechain reaction-restrictive fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method to examine the CYP17 rs743572 position spot polymorphism from 130 cases of Uighur women with breast cancer,125 cases of Uighur nomal women,120 cases of Han female patients with breast cancer, and 118 cases of normal women of Han nationality, and to analyze the relationship between polymorphism at this spot and susceptivity with breast cancer. Results:In the patient group and control group of the Uigur and Han race, the genotype distribution and allele frequency had significant difference (P<0.05). There was no significient difference between genotype distribution and allele frequencies in both patient group and control group of the Uygur and Han nationality subgroup (P>0.05); Genotype and allele didn’t increase the risk of breast cancer for patient group and control group in both Uygur and Han race; TC+CC genetype increased the risk of suffering breast cancer when one was at the menarche age of 13-16 or in menopause for Uygur group, but it reduced the risk when one’s menarche age was older than 17 or had no history of breast benign disease; In additation, TC+CC genetype increased the risk of suffering breast cancer when one was at the primiparous age of 19-29 and had a prolific history and family history of cancer for Han race. No relationship existed between CYP17 gene polymorphism and ER, or PR (P>0.05). TT genotype didn’t increase the risk of high expression for Her-2 in Uygur and Han race group (P<0.05).Conclusion:In the patient group and control group of the Uigur and Han race, the genotype distribution and allele frequency had significant difference (P<0.05). CYP17 rs743572 polymorphism was related to breast cancer in both Uygur and Han race.
