| Objective:To investigate the revalence of colorectal diseases in people undergoing health examination in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and the necessity of colonoscopic screening in asymptomatic population. Methods:A retrospective analysis was carried out in asymptomatic healthy subjects who voluntarily accepted eolonoscopy at Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region People’s Hospital from July 2009 to June 2013.Results:A total of 1970 cases were included in this study. In 560 colorectal polyps detected, tubular adenoma located at left hemicolon was more frequently seen than other types of polyps. The prevalence of colorectal polyps was higher in males than in females (16.3%vs12.5%, P<0.05) and increased with the age advancing (≥50 years old vs<50 years old:25.9% vs 14.3%, P<0.05). More polyps were detected in Han nationality than in Uyghur and Kazak(16.2% vs.11.1% and 10.9%,.P<0.05).Conclusion:The prevalence of colorectal cancer was considerably low in asymptomatic healthy subjects, and adenocarcinoma is more common. The prevalence of colorectal polyps was considerably high in asymptomatic healthy subjects.Adenoma detection rate was higher than in most. Males and individuals with advancing age and Han nationality were more prone to have colorectal polyps.Colonoscopy in asymptomatic populations are important. It was conducive to the early discovery of colon cancer and precancerous lesions. |
