Objective: To evaluate curative effect of thunder-fire moxibustion on allergic conjunctivitis. Methods:Between June 1,2013, and December 30,2013, a total of 200 patients (400 eyes) with allergic conjunctivitis were recruited in this study and randomly divided into experimental group (n=100) and control group(n=100). Both group received Olopatadine Hydrochloride Eye Drops(Belgium S.A.ALCON-COUVREUR N.V product number14D09Q) therapy, Twice daily, one drop for each eye, for 9 days, four times as a course of treatment. The experimental group received additional moxibustion acupoint therapy by Zhao’s thunder-fire moxibustion which produced by Zhao’s thunder fire moxibustion institute of traditional medicine in Chongqing, treatment. 2-days break at the end of each period, continuous treatment of 4 periods. the eye itching degree and conjunctival papilla with reference to the encyclopedia of ophthalmology and Inflammatory J Diseases of the Conjunctiva eye itching scoring criteria, were scored at the end of each course of treatment, as well as 1 months follow-up after treatment respectively; Evaluted the degree of eye redness according to German Oculus Keratograph. With SPSS19.0 statistical package to analysis date..Results:1.Pre- treatment analysis (table 2-1,2-2,2-3):the experimental group and the control group had no statistical difference (P>0.05) in the age, disease duration and indexes before receiving the clinical intervention, which indicated the observation indexs are comparable.2. Eye itch comparison (table 2-4,2-5):(1)Comparison between groups: There was no statistical difference (P>0.05) between experimental group and control group in the first period of treatment; After 2nd,3rd,4th period of treatment and 1 months follow-up after treatment, statistically significant (P<0.05) has been detected, curative effect of the experimental group was superior to the control group.(2)Within group comparisons: compared each course of treatment to the treatment respectively; the experimental group after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period of treatment and 1 month follow-up after treatment were significant differences (P<0.05), which illustrated that there were significant differences compared 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th period of treatment and 1 month follow-up after treatment to the situation before treatment individually; For the control group, there were statistical significant differences (P<0.05) between 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th period of treatment and 1 month follow-up after the end of therapy to the situation before treatment, which confirmed that the significant differences were existing in the experimental group when made the of comparison between the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th period of treatment,1 month follow-up after treatment to untreated situation respectively.3.Envy score comparison (table 2-6,2-7,2-8):(1) The cross-group comparison:there was no statistical difference (P> 0.05) in the first period of treatment between experimental group and control group, after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th period of treatment and 1 months follow-up after treatment, the statistically significant differences (P<0.05) occurred, the curative effect of experimental group was better than the control group. (2) Within group comparison: compared each period of treatment with the situation prior to treatment experimental group displayed that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period of treatment and 1 month follow-up after treatment were statistically different (P< 0.05), which also meant that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period of treatment and 1 month follow-up after treatment had significant differences by compared to untreated condition; there were statistical significant differences (P<0.05) between 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th period of treatment and 1 month follow-up after the end of therapy to the situation before treatment, which explained that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th period of treatment and 1 month follow-up after treatment compared to untreated situation respectively had the significant differences.4.Conjunctival nipple curative effect comparison (table 2-8,2-9,9-12):(1) the comparison between groups:the were no statistical difference (P>0.05) between experimental group and control group in the 1st and 2nd period of treatment, after the 3rd, 4th period of treatment and 1 months follow-up after treatment, the statistically significant differences have been detected (P<0.05), the curative effect of experimental group was obviously rather than the control group. (2) within the group comparison: each period of treatment compared with untreated condition, after the 1 st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th of treatment and 1 months follow-up after treatment of the experimental group were statistically significant (P< 0.05), which approved that the experimental group the 1 st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th of treatment and 1 month follow-up after treatment had significant difference; Regard to Control group, the 1 st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th of treatment and 1 month follow-up after treatment were statistically significant (P<0.05), which confirmed that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th of treatment and 1 months follow-up after treatment of the experimental group were significantly different compared the situation prior to treatment.Conclusion:1. Thunder-fire moxibustion is effective in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis.2. The curative effect of thunder -fire moxibustion with Olopatadine Hydrochloride eye drops is superior to the only Olopatadine Hydrochloride eye drops.3.Thunder fire moxibustion can effectively reduce the recurrence of blood deficiency type raw wind allergic conjunctivitis.
