Clinical Observation About Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction In Treating Senile Functional Constipation Cases Caused By The Spleen Deficiency

Purpose:By observing the clinical efficacy of Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction in 60 senile functional constipation cases caused by the spleen deficiency,comparing results with the efficacy of Lactulose Oral Solution,and learn the efficacy and feasibility of Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction for senile functional constipation caused by spleen deficiency so as to provide scientific basis for its clinical application.Methods:The 60 cases included in the study were selected from the senile functional constipation patients caused by the spleen deficiency who visited the Cadre Stomach Branch of First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from Janurary to December 2014.Their age is all greater than or equal to 60 years old. They are randomly divided into two groups:The treatment group of 30 patients take Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction which are composed of Cooked Rhubarb 10 g,Cistanches 12 g,Dangshen 15 g,Atractylodes 12 g,Poria 12 g,Citrus aurantium 12 g,Angelica 12 g,Woody 12 g,Almonds 12 g,Melon Ren 12 g,Malt 20 g,Guya 20 g,Zhigancao 10 g.These medicine were put into boiling water, and taken orally twice a day by patients at breakfast and supper.The control group of 30 patients are given the Lactulose Oral Solution 10 ml orally three times a day.The treatment time of two groups are four weeks.After the end of treatment,evaluating the efficacy by observing symptoms of two groups patients before and after treatment and recurrence 30 days after stop taking Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction.Assessing drug security by observing liver function(ALT、AST) and renal function(Cr、BUN) of two groups before and after the treatment. All the results are analyzed by SPSS17.0.Results:After the treatment of four weeks,according to the research,in the treatment group,9 cases were cured,18 cases with significant effect,2 cases with efficiency,1 case with no improvement,0 case with worsen and the total efficiency rate is 90%;Forthe control group,4 cases were cured,17 cases with significant effect,8 cases with efficiency,1 case with no improvement,0 case with worsen and the total efficiency rate is 70%.The difference of the efficacy between two groups was statistically significant(P<0. 05),which proves that Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction in treating senile functional constipation caused by spleen deficiency is better than Lactulose Oral Solution.Both groups have a decreased symptom score after treatment,and it means both treatments are effective. After statistical analysis, the symptom score after treatment between two groups are comparable(P<0.05),which illustrate that the difference of improving overall symptoms of constipation between two groups is statistically significant,Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction is better than Lactulose Oral Solution. Both two groups could significantly improve each symptom, including fecal traits、the frequency of defecation、defecation time、difficult defecation、the degree of excessive force 、the sense of falling,bloat feeling,fatigued body and lack of strength,fatigue and lazy word and appetite loss.Both two groups have no difference in improving fecal traits,the frequency of defecation,defecation time,difficult defecation,excessive force degree(P>0.05);but Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction has a more significant improvement than Lactulose Oral Solution in the sense of falling,bloat feeling,fatigued body and lack of strength,fatigue and lazy word and appetite loss(P<0.05).Thirty days after they stopping treatment lasted four weeks,we did a callback visit.The recurrence rate of the treatment group and the control group is 13.79% and 58.62% respectively.The two groups have a significant difference in the recurrence rate(P<0.05).Indicating that the long-term effect of Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction is better than Lactulose Oral Solution.The liver and renal function of two groups are in normal range and the difference of the liver and renal function of each group is not statistically significant before and after treatment.It means that the two groups have no effect on liver and renal function and both have better security.Conclusion:Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction has an obvious advantage in treating senile functional constipation caused by spleen deficiency,it can significantly relieve all symptoms. The study shows that Huang Yun Tong Bian Decoction is safe and effective in treating senile constipation caused by spleen deficiency.It not only can improve all symptoms,but also could control the recurrence rate.It has a good clinical value in the treatment of this type of constipation.
