Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum omentin-1level and fat mass, bone turnover marker levels bone mineral density in newly diagnosed hyperthyroidism. Methods:88newly diagnosed hyperthyroidism patients were enrolled randomly in endocrinology department of Xiang Ya hospital during June2013to March2014.44age-and sex-matched healthy people were selected as NC group at the same time. Serum omentin-1, β-CTX,N-MID-OT levels were measured by ELISA, BMD was assessed by DEXA. All the results were analyzed by SPSS17.0. Results:1. Serum omentin-1,β-CTX,N-MID-OT levels increased and BMD in various skeletal sites decreased in hyperthyroidism group compared with control.2. Fat mass in hyperthyroidism group decreased and there is a positive correlation between fat mass and BMD in all skeletal sites.3. Serum omentin-1level was negatively correlated with fat mass, FMI, BMI in hyperthyroidism group.3. Serum omentin-1level showed negative correlation with BMD in femoral neck in the hyperthyroidism group, after adjustment for age, fat mass, BMI, the correlation disappeared. Conclusions:1. Serum omentin-1, bone turnover marker levels increased and BMD in various regions decreased in hyperthyroidism group.2. Fat mass ratio decreased and demonstrated a positive correlation with BMD in hyperthyroidism group.3. Our study shows serum omentin-1level and BMD in hyperthyroidism group are irrelevant.
