Objective:To investigate the mechanism and relationship between hyperthyroidism and osteoporosis by investigating the changes of bone mineral density and bone metabolism in patients with hyperthyroidism. Methods:Bone mineral density (BMD)was observed using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in 62 cases of hyperthyroidism, while serum AKP were measured. Results:The level of serum AKP was significantly higher and BMD were significantly lower of hyperthyroidism than control group(P<0.01).Conclusion:In patients with hyperthyroidism, BMD is decreased, and incidence of high turnover osteoporosis is increased significantly.
