Objective:The hospitalized children’s(≤18years of age) clinical datacharacteristics are summarized, who were died in children’s hospital ofChongqing medical university during nearly14years, so that it can providethe scientific basis for specify the corresponding preventive measures, improving the level of diagnosis and treatment, reducing the mortality. Methods:The clinical information of hospitalized1446death casesand285cardiovascular disease cases in children’s hospital of Chongqingmedical university during2000.01.01and2013.12.31was reviewed inretrospective analysis. The general condition, mortality, mortality nosologyand the changing trend were analyzed and summarized. Using the χ2testand t test by SPSS20.0statistical analysis software to analyze the dataabove, with (P<0.05) had significant difference.Result:1. Generals: There were1446cases involved,886males(61.27%) and560females(38.73%) were analyzed, the age ranged from15minutes to16years and6months, average was (8.37±4.28) years. The shortesthospitalization time was35minutes, and the longest was570days, the highest constituent ratio was within1day.2. The mortality of last7years was significantly higher than the first7years (P <0.05).3. The top3age stages respectively were: the infancy stage (233/1446,16.11%), the neonatal period (440/1446,30.43%) and toddlerperiod(279/1446,19.29%).4. Males was more in gender compositions of all ages of death cases, which had significant difference (P<0.05).5. The death causes of the top5were: cardiovascular disease(285/1446,19.71%), infectious disease(204/1446,14.11%), neonataldiseases(158/1446,10.93%), poisoning or accidental injury(144/1446,9.96%)and respiratory disease(134/1446,9.27%). The death causes ofdifferent age stages respectively were: the neonatal period were neonatalpneumonia(43/233,19.28%) and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(36/233,16.14%), the infancy stage were congenital heart disease(CHD)(147/440,33.41%) and pneumonia(80/440,18.18%), the toddler periodwere CHD(32/279,11.47%) and poisoning or accidental injury(31/279,11.11%), the preschool period were poisoning or accidental injury(48/219,21.92%) and leukemia(18/219,8.22%), the school-age were poisoning oraccidental injury(22/114,19.30%) and unknown causes(9/114,7.89%),and the puberty period were leukemia(18/161,11.18%) and unknowncauses(18/161,11.18%). 6. The top3death causes of the cardiovascular disease were: CHD(238/285,83.51%), myocarditis(30/285,10.53%) and cardiomyopathy(8/285,2.81%).The mortality of CHD in first7years was5.54‰, and thelast7years was4.37‰, which promoted that the mortality had slightdecline but no significant difference (P>0.05).7. The top3death causes of the infectious disease were: tuberculosis(46/204,22.55%), hand-foot-mouth disease (46/204,22.55%) andsepticemia(35/204,17.16%), the constituent ratio of tuberculosis andhand-foot-mouth disease had no significant difference (P>0.05) in firstand last7years, the constituent ratio of septicemia in last7years wassignificantly higher than the first7years (P <0.05).8. The top3death causes of the neonatal disease were: pneumonia(43/233,19.28%), neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (36/233,16.14%) and CHD(30/233,13.45%), the constituent ratio of pneumoniaand neonatal respiratory distress syndrome had no significant difference(P>0.05) in first and last7years, the constituent ratio of CHD in last7years was significantly higher than the front7years (P <0.05).9. Poisoning or accidental injury was one of the main death causes inthe preschool period and the school-age period, the top3death causes were:traffic accident(50/144,34.72%), high falling injury(27/144,18.75%)and poisoning(22/144,15.28%).10. The top3death causes of the respiratory disease were: pneumonia (129/134,96.27%), laryngemphraxis(3/1446,2.24%) and idiopathicpulmonary hemosiderosis (2/134,1.49%), the constituent ratio ofpneumonia within infancy stag had no significant difference (P>0.05) infirst and last7years,, the constituent ratio of pneumonia in toddler periodin last7years was significantly higher than the first7years (P <0.05).Conclusion:1. The death causes of all age-stage hospitalized children in children’shospital of Chongqing medical university were different, and the deathcauses had no significant difference in the first and last7years.2. The constituent ratio of neonatal period, infancy stage and toddlerperiod was relatively higher.3. The top5death causes of the hospitalized death cases were:cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, neonatal diseases, poisoning oraccidental injury and respiratory disease.4. The CHD was the most common disease in the cardiovasculardisease, followed by myocarditis and cardiomyopathy, the mortality ofCHD had no significant difference in first and last7years.
