This topic is the branch of the nature fund of YunNan province, the study on therule of syndrome and treatment of dryness syndrome in Southern Yunnan based on theanalysis of ancient and modern literatures and clinical surveys. According to the newconcept Spring Dryness Syndrome, which was first proposed by ProfessorZheng Jin in his paper Putting Forward the Concept of Yunnan Spring DrynessSyndrome and Treatment Based on Syndrome Differentiation, Yunnan SpringDryness Syndrome is being continuously developed and perfected. As a part ofYunnan Spring Dryness Syndromes, dryness syndrome in Southern Yunnan belongs tolocal and regional syndrome type in the whole Yunnan dryness syndromes.Yunnan province is a typical low latitude plateau, a nd its terrain, like a slopingechelonment, runs north to south with distinct dry and wet seasons, and with greatclimate contrast from south to north, even with ubiquitously vertical climatic zones. And there are complex precipitation and diversified local climate types. The range of South Yunnan areas includes: North across the Tropic of cancer toabout24degrees north latitude, South to the border, East to Guangxi, and West toNushan Mountain, including Puer, Lincang, Honghe, Wenshan, Xishuangbanna, etc.The terrain tilts from north to south and the ground is undulating and complex. So thisregional climate can make great variations in a very small range, form this diverselocal climate and microclimate.Research purposes: by analyzing the data obtained from the clinicalinvestigations in Southern Yunnan areas, we want to summarise syndrome featuresand the regularity of syndrome types of dryness syndrome in Southern Yunnan; toanalyze the relationship between the formation of dryness syndrome and Yunnan’s region, climate, people’s living habits etc.; to detect the etiology and pathogenesis ofdryness syndrome; and to utilize the principle of medicines of dryness syndrome inSouthern Yunnan.Research methods: By epidemiological research methods was used, andcombined with the conclusion, The Tnvestigation Table of Traditional ChineseMedicine Syndromes of Yunnan Dryness Syndrome which was revised andformulated through retrospectively study of medical records of the previous literaturestudies, the study made questionnaire investigations for nosocomial outpatients andinpatients with dryness syndrome characteristics, namely, predominant drynesscausing withering, in cities in South Yunnan (Lincang, Honghe, Wenshan, Puer,Xishuangbanna) was conducted. Finally, questionnaires were collected and thecollected data were put into computers. The modern mathematical statistics methodincluding cluster analysis, factor analysis, frequency analysis and so on wereperformed, and the data were proceeded and intended to find out syndrome featuresand the regularity of syndrome types of dryness syndrome in Southern Yunnan. Therelationship between the formation ofdryness syndrome and Yunnan’s region, climate, people’s living habits was analyzed. In the end, the medication rules of drynesssyndrome in Southern Yunnan were summarized. Conclusion: We collected322valid clinical dryness surveys in Southern Yunnanareas. Five groups of the syndromes of dryness syndrome in Southern Yunnan wereobtained and the syndrome types of dryness syndrome in South Yunnan weredetermined. Yunnan southern region dryness syndrome: the lung and stomach heatsyndrome, phlegm syndrome, liver kidney yin deficiency, dryness invading the lungsyndrome, syndrome of exuberance of heart fire. Southern Yunnan medicine mainly qiinvigorating drugs, divergent wind hot, enrich the blood, heat clearing drug, detumescence medicine, yin tonic, heat clearing and detoxifying, divergent wind coldmedicine, heat and dampness, clearing heat and purging gunpowder based.
