ObjectiveBy observing the efficacy of treating scapulohumeral periarthritis at multiply angels by penetrating contralateral Tiaokou point through Chengshan point plus partial electroacupuncture therapy, evaluate the curative effect objectively and provide the trustworthy evidence for the optimization plan of penetrating Tiaokou point through Chengshan point plus partial electroacupuncture therapy.MethodFrom May2013to February2014,60patients of scapulohumeral periarthritis with the inclusion criteria were selected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM. Patients were randomly assigned into test group and control group, in the proportion of1:1,30cases in each group. Test group received penetrating contralateral Tiaokou point through Chengshan point plus partial electroacupuncture therapy, while control group only received electroacupuncture therapy, applying the same acupoints and operation.①routine acupoints selection for electroacupuncture:Jianyu(LI15), Jianqian, Jianzhen(SI9), Quchi(LI4), Waiguan(SJ5), and Ahshi-point. Acupoints above were selected on the affected side.②penetration of contralateral Tiaokou point through Chengshan point, meanwhile recommending exercising the affected shoulder. Both therapies were applied five times a week. One week was set as one therapeutic course and two courses of continuous therapy were needed for both groups. Patients were evaluated before and after2nd course of treatment by the Chinese symptoms grading, as well as the pain and physical function of shoulder joint. The measurement data was transacted with SPSS16.0software.ResultsThere were no statistically significant discrepancy in the general information of the patients, such as the gender, age, course of disease, degree of condition, and disease location (P>0.05), revealing the comparability of the two groups. Besides, no statistically significant differences still showed in the pre-treatment evaluation parameters of the patients, including the Chinese symptoms grading, as well as the pain and physical function of shoulder joint (P>0.05), which displayed the two groups were comparable. The comparison of the overall effectiveness:the total effective rate was96.55in test group and93.10%in control group, with no statistically significant differences (P>0.05). After2courses of treatment, it showed that the Chinese symptoms grading, as well as the pain and physical function of shoulder joint, compared to the pre-treatment results (P<0.05), were obviously improved in both groups, revealing the significant differences. In addition, except the degree of shoulder muscle atrophy, significant differences were confirmed between the two groups. The test group was superior to the control group (P<0.05).Conelusions1. Penetrating contralateral Tiaokou point through Chengshan point plus partial electroacupuncture therapy and only electroacupuncture therapy were both effective in the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis.2. Except the degree of shoulder muscle atrophy, significant differences were confirmed between the groups, and test group was superior to control group (P<0.05).3. Within a short period, test group presented a better improvement effect than control group in the Chinese symptoms grading, as well as the pain and physical function of shoulder joint, except the degree of shoulder muscle atrophy.
