As the most common reason of lower back and legs pain, lumber disc herniation is often seen in young adults and the male people have more chances to suffer it. It is series of clinical symptoms due to the lumbar disc degeneration, annular disruption, nucleus pulpous herniated, and the prominence stimulated the nerve root and the cauda equine, which often causes the lumbago and pain of legs, dysfunction of walking and numbness in legs. Western medicine treatment for lumbar disc herniation includes surgical methods and non-surgical methods, while the traditional Chinese medicine doctor usually use acupuncture, Tuina and oral administration of Chinese medicine. However, they both have advantages and disadvantages, and could not totally satisfy the requirements of the patients. As a result, the clinical doctors have to search for better treatment for lumber disc herniation. The patients of deficiency of the liver and kidney are the most common type in the LDH and so were chose in our study. We choose the warming acupuncture with moxibustion on the points together with Tuina manipulation as the treatment for LDH, in order to seek a better clinical therapy for LDH.Objectives:This trial meant to compare the clinical effect difference between the warming acupuncture with moxibustion on the points together with Tuina manipulation as the treatment for LDH and the simple Tuina manipulation, and then to observe the clinical effect on the backpain and the advanced degree on the life function, and the clinical significance and its value. Methods:All the60cases were from the Department of Rehabilitation and orthopaedics of the Third Hospital Affiliated to Southern Medical University between the year of2012and2013. They were randomly divided into two groups. One was the treated group and the other was the control group. Both groups had30cases. Two groups were given the same treatments. That was Tuina manipulation which was applied in the therapy for LDH in the clinical. Besides, the treated group was given the warming acupuncture with moxibution on the certain points on the back and waist. The treatments for both groups were done once every day, five times for each week and stopped at every Saturday and Sunday. The total course was ten times and two courses later, JOA test, VAS score and Oswestry Dysfunction index evaluation were used to compare the difference of the patients after different treatments. Results:Before the trail, the basic material of two groups such as sex, age, disease courses, JOA test, VAS score and Oswestry Dysfunction index evaluation were significant difference statistically and could be compared according to the statistical theory. After two courses of the different therapy methods, the JOA test, VAS score and Oswestry Dysfunction index evaluation were estimated once again. The scores of both groups on the JOA test, VAS score and Oswestry Dysfunction index evaluation decreased and they were statistically significant (P<0.05). The comparisons between two groups of the three tests were statistically significant difference and clinical effect in treated group was better than the effect in control group. Through the Rank Sum Test, the total cure rate of the treated group was of significant difference statistically (u=2.27, P=0.023, P<0.05) compared with control group. That also proved that the clinical symptoms of the patients in treated group improved more than the patients in control group.Conelusion:Compared with the routine Tuina manipulation, the warming acupuncture with moxibution combined with the routine Tuina manipulation was effective in treating lumbar disc herniation. It could ease the backpain and numbness on the legs and feet of the patients and improved their life function, so it is a good therapy to treat LDH and should be used widely. |
