| Objective:The purpose of this research is to observe the clinical efficacy of the combination of electroacupuncture and point application warming and tonifying the liver and kidney on lumbar disc herniation of different TCM syndromes based on the deficiency of the liver-yang and kidney-yang.Through the study,we aim to demonstrate the feasibility and efficacy of the therapy of warming and tonifying the liver and kidney as the foundation treatment. Methods:According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria of lumbar disc herniation,62 patients with lumbar disc herniation were randomly divided into experimental group(n = 32)and control group(n = 30).The patients are all inpatients and outpatients of the Acupuncture rehabilitation from WuTong Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine. The experimental group was treated with warming and tonifying liver and kidney by acupoint application combined with electroacupuncture. This group was first treated with routine electroacupuncture for 30 minutes and then point application therapy. The traditional Chinese medicine of point application mainly has the function of warming and tonifying liver and kidney. We grinded the Chinese medicine into fine powder and made paste with ginger juice, then through regular disinfection of local acupoints, using acupoint application adhesive tape to fix the drug at the selected points. We selected following acupoints with the effect of warming and tonifying liver and kidney: Shenshu,Ganshu,Ququan,Mingmen,Guan yuan. The control group was treated with routine electroacupuncture, and the operation was the same as that of the experimental group. The two groups were treated 1 times a day,6 times for a course. The whole treatment included 2 courses, and patients had rest for 1 day between each course.Visual Analogue scale,Japanese Orthopaedic Association and scores Simplified Mc Gill Pain Questionnaire, which were used to observe the pain intensity, lumbar function and sensory and emotional changes of patients, were used as therapeutic indexes. Finally the results of statistical analysis were used to draw conclusions.Result:1.The baseline analysis: the difference of the two groups of patients with gender, age, course of disease,TCM syndrome type,VAS score before treatment, lumbar JOA score,SF-McGill score and emotional feeling, was not statistically significant. The research had consistent baseline(P>0.05)and could be synchronized.2.Curative effect analysis:(1)The VAS scores of the two groups were significantly decreased after treatment, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)The JOA scores of the two groups were significantly increased after treatment, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)The scores of sensory and affective items of SF-MPQ in the two groups were significantly decreased after treatment, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)The VAS score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group after treatment, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05);(5)The JOA score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group after treatment, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05);(6)The scores of sensory and emotional items of SF-MPQ were lower than those of control group after treatment, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Both therapies of lumbar disc herniation for experimental group and the control group have curative effect.2.The therapy for experimental group is better than that of the control group in the improvement of the waist and leg pain, functional symptoms and psychological status.3.The method of warming and tonifying the liver and kidney is the basic therapy, which is suitable for patients with lumbar disc herniation with different TCM syndromes. |
