Objectives:In order to explore the relationship among plasma homocysteine (HCY) levels, carotid atherosclerotic plaques and related biochemical indicators of cerebral infarction (CI) patients in Korean-Chinese and Han-Chinese in YanBian,to provide a reference for the secondary prevention of stroke. Methods:The clinical data of142patients with CI hospitalizedin the Department of Neurology, Affiliated Hospital of Yanbian University from June2012to January2014were retrospectively analyzed. The gender, nationality, age, hypertension, history of diabetes, atherogenic index (AI), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), folic acid (FA), uric acid (UA), vitamin B12(VitB]2), plasma HCY and carotid ultrasound results of each patient were recorded. The indicators, such as HCY, FA, AI, UA and VitB12of Korean-Chinese and Han-Chinese which grouped by60-year-old were compared; the patients were divided into plaque group and non-plaque group according to the results of carotid ultrasound, indicators of the two groups, such as HCY, FA, AI, UA, VitB12and hs-CRP were compared; the correlation of plasma HCY with FA, AI, UA and VitB]2were analyzed; patients were divided into CI group, CI with hypertension group, CI with diabetes group and CI with hypertension and diabetes group according to their complications. Plasma HCY levels in each group were compared. Results:HCY and AI values in Korean-Chinese patients with CI were higher than in Han-Chinese patients, while FA values in Han-Chinese patients were higher. The HCY, AI and FA values of patients with different ages were not statistically different. AI values were higher in plaque group compared with non-plaque group, and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.01), hs-CRP values were higher in plaque group compared with non-plaque group, and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.01), and the rest showed no statistically significant. HCY was significantly correlated to FA negatively, the correlated coefficient was-0.53,p<0.01. HCY had positive correlation with UA, the correlated coefficient was0.27, p<0.01, while it showed no correlation with VitB12、AI. HCY values in different complication groups were not exactly the same. Pairwise comparison showed that HCY values in CI with hypertension group and CI with hypertension and diabetes group were higher than in the control group (p<0.01), the difference of HCY values between CI with diabetes group and control group was not significant (p>0.05); HCY values in CI with hypertension group were higher than in CI with diabetes group, and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.01); the difference of HCY values between CI with hypertension group and CI with hypertension and diabetes group was not significant difference (p>0.05);HCY values in CI with hypertension and diabetes group were higher than CI with diabetes group (p<0.01).Conclusions:1.There are differences between Korean-Chinese and Han-Chinese patients in YanBian with cerebral infarction of HCY, AI, FA value.2.There are differences between carotid plaque group and non-plaque group of AI and hs-CRP levels.3. HCY is correlated to FA and UA.4. The HCY values in CI patients with hypertension group were higher than in with diabetes group.
