ObjectiveAccording to principle of randomized controlled trial and the clinical diagnostic criteria of cyclic mastalgia in premenstrual syndrome, this study is to compare the outcome between massage on meridian and oral medicine Xiaoyao powder, and evaluate accurately about the better outcome of massage on meridian.Method60patients with cyclic mastalgia of premenstrual syndrome were collected from clinic in Taiwan; all of them were divided randomly into two groups, treatment group and control group. The former group’s patients were treated by massage on meridian when the later were treated by oral medicine Xiaoyao powder. Before and after treatment, their data were collected and assessed according to the symptoms and signs of TCM. Finally, we established and analyzed the database by statistic software.Results1.Two groups’ baseline information is comparable.2. After3courses of treatment, the effective rate of the total, the main symptoms, the signs and the accompany symptoms is75.86%、68.97%、100%and58.62%respectively in control group, while in treatment group is93.10%、89.66%、96.55%and62.07%respectively. There is a significant difference between the total and the main symptoms’effect(P<0.05), it shows that the outcome of treatment group is better than control group according to this two aspects, but they have a similar effect in the signs and the accompany symptoms (p>0.05).3. Comparatively in intra-group before and after the courses, two groups both shows good outcome on the total, the main symptoms, the signs and the accompany symptoms (P1<0.05). Moreover in inter-group, the outcome of treatment group is better than control group in the aspects of the total and the main symptoms (P2<0.05) yet both groups reveal to similar in the signs and the accompany symptoms (P2<0.05)4. The comparison of two groups’outcome in different degree indicates they have a similar effect in slight degree (P>0.05) according to the effective rate of100%, but the treatment group is better in middle and severe degree(P<0.05)according to the effective rate is91.67%and80%while the effective rate of control group is76.92%and20%.ConclusionThis study indicates that massage on meridian is effective on cyclic mastalgia of premenstrual syndrome, it helps to improve the outcome. Furthermore, basing on the traditional meridian course, the skill of this massage is simple and easy to get hold of and it is valuable to clinical applications.
