ObjectiveEvaluate the clinical result of integrated traditional Chinese medical therapy on early acute mastitis, then optimize the therapy basing on the outcomes.Method60complete cases suffering early acute mastitis were included in our study, all the cases were classified by Qi stagnation and heat congestion syndrome. All patients were divided randomly into TCM group(30cases) and western medicine group(30cases). All cases were observed by the same doctors, the TCM group was treated by peroral Chinese decoction, external applicative plaster and promoting lactation by massage. Patients in western medicine group were treated by antibiotic and lactation in regular time. After3days’observation period.patients in both group were examined based on body temperature, the degree of swelling, hemogram and overall efficient.ResultThere was no significant difference (P>0.05) between two groups in regard to age, procreative times, time for sick, hospitalizing time of patients in our research. And there was no significant difference (P>0.05) between two groups in regard to characters of hemogram before treatment, pain degree, and size of the lump. In TCM intervening group, the total good rate was83.3%,2cases got suppurative mastitis and treated by incision and drainage;2cases developed into undissipating induration and needed further treatment. In western medicine group, the total good rate was70%,3cases cases got suppurative mastitis and treated by incision and drainage;2cases developed into undissipating induration and needed further treatment. There was no significant difference (P>0.05) between two groups in regard to pain relief, the recovery degree of hemogram, and the decline degree of body temperature. But the degree of lump dissipating in TCM intervening group were significantly superior to that in western medicine group (P<0.05). Though the total good rate in TCM group was higher than that in western medicine group, no significant difference (P>0.05) of efficacy was found between two groups.ConclusionIntegrated traditional Chinese medical therapy has good effects in treating early mastitis by lowering body temperature effectively, relieving swelling, normalizing hemogram, and reducing the risk of abscess. So, it is an effective therapy for treating early acute mastitis.
