Clinical Study Of Treating Lumbar Disc Herniation By Electroacupuncture Combined Ear-acupuncture

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common clinical lumbar degenerative diseases in the young males. LDH has serious social harm. Because LDH express a high morbidity due to changes of modern life. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the causes of LDH are external force, external wind, cold, and dampness, and insufficiency of kidney essence. As the most important treatment of TCM, Acupuncture makes a good curative effect in the treatment of LDH. Ear-acupuncture also play a great role in TCM. Therefore, there is significant clinical value to explore the effect of treating LDH by Electroacupuncture combined Ear-acupuncture.Objective:In this study, a randomized controlled clinical trial would be taked to explore the effect of treating LDH by Electroacupuncture combined Ear-acupuncture.Method:Total60samples of LDH which meet the screening criteria, were collected in the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM. Samples were randomly divided into treatment group and the control group, each for30cases. After the trial began, the treatment groups were treated by Electroacupuncture combined Ear-acupuncture. Main acupoint:ouch point, Shen-Shu (BL23), Da-Chang-Shu(BL25), Huan-Tiao(GB30), Wei-Zhong(BL40), Xuan-Zhong(GB39), Yang-Ling-Quan(GB34), Qiu-Xu(GB40). Main ear-acupoint:Shen-Men, Yao-Di-Zui, Zuo-Gu-Shen-Jing. Operation:general needling, then use Electroacupuncture, chose continuous waves if suffer with pain, chose sparse waves if suffer with numbness. After a course of treatment, use JOA score and VAPS score as observation. Results:There were no significantly different (F>0.05) about indicators between two groups of patients before treatment. After treatment, the JOA scores of the two groups of patients were significantly improved (P<0.05). the both VAPS scores were significantly better than before (P<0.05). Moreover, the JOA and VAPS scores improved more significantly in treatment group than contron group (P<0.05). Excluding off cases, the clinical cure rate and significant efficiency rate of treatment group were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05).Conelusion:Electroacupuncture combined Ear-acupuncture therapy can improve the cure rate of LDH with better results than single Electroacupuncture therapy.
