Objective:Cervical spondylosis is a chronic disease; its characteristics such as longduration and easy recurrence cause both physiological and psychological changes inpatients which result in serious effects in patients’ health and life quality. There is noeffective medication for cervical spondylosis treatment for now and surgical treatmenthas its limitations. As opposed to the above methods, physical therapies such asmodulated medium frequency electrotherapy and Ultra short wave become morepopular because of their obvious effect on the treatment and recovery stages.Chinese and international scholars have done widely research on the treatments; butthere are few focused on physical therapies and the influences of the patients’ mentaland living qualities; this article is aim on this. Methods: There were30cervical spondylosis patients selected by the inclusioncriteria. Subjects include13males and17females, ages are between20and78, andduration of disease is from2months to10years. In this study, all subjects were givencertain physical treatment corresponding to their symptoms. The patients’ data wasrecorded during three weeks to evaluate the psychological and physical effect causedthe physical treatment. Survey forms were used in the research, they are: self-ratingdepression scale (SDS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), The MOS36item shortfrom health survey (MOS SF-36) and the general questionnaire survey. All subjectswere communicated with the same professional specialist. Then input the statisticaldata into SPSS,use SPSS13.0software to do statistics describe,to test the data whetheris normal distribution or not, when two variable accorded with double normaldistribution hypothesis, use the Pearson to describe the related correlation.Selects mean, the standard deviation to the measurement material data carries on thedescriptive analysis, around the treatment compares selects the T-test, count datausing rate.If P<0.05,then there was correlation between two variable.Results:30cases of cervical spondylosis, except for physiological function, cervicalspondylosis SF-36dimensions rated were significantly lower than the normal group(P <0.05); without anxiety4cases (13.3%), mild anxiety7cases (23.3%),moderate anxiety12cases (40.0%), severe anxiety7cases (23.3%); withoutdepression13cases (43.3%), mild depression12cases (40.0%), moderatedepression5cases (16.7%).After physical factor treatment,30cases of cervicalspondylosis score SF-36dimensions were improved over the treatment period (P<0.01); anxiety and depression than those before treatment improved, no anxiety11cases (36.7%), six cases of mild anxiety (20.0%), moderate anxiety8cases(26.7%), severe anxiety,5cases (16.7%),86.7%incidence rate of anxiety beforetreatment decreased to63.3%; without depression in17patients (56.7%), milddepression10patients (33.3%), moderate depression three cases (10.0%),56.7%of the pre-treatment of depression incidence rate decreased to43.3%.There wascorrelation between anxiety and depression(P <0.01).Conclusions: The life quality of cervical spondylosis patients are lower than thenormal population, moreover, they are normally carrying psychological disease suchas depression and anxiety. The research shows the physical treatment can significantlyimprove the cervical spondylosis patients’life quality, and reducing the depressionand anxiety. There was correlation between anxiety and depression.
