Objective This study examined the status and relationship of physical and mental health, life events and sleep quality during adolescent, which aimed to provide the foundation for studying the risk factors of sleep quality and formation mechanism of sleep disorder. Methods 5230 students from 10 grades in 9 schools were selected by stratified cluster sampling and filled out the anonymous questionnaire, which included the demographic characteristics of the students and parents, Self-rated Health Measurement Scale Version 1.0(SRHMS), UCLA Loneliness Scale, Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS), Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List(ASLES) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), et al. Non-conditional multivariate logistic regression model were employed to explore the relationship among sleep quality, gender, grade, homestyle, physical and mental health and life events, the independent variables were gender, grade, homestyle, anxiety, loneliness, depression, self-rated health measurement and life events, and the dependent variables was sleep quality. Results There was a significant difference in physiological health, psychological health and social health during different grades. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in depression among different grades. The extent of depression had significant differences which associated with homestyle, parents personality, parents relationship, learning score and individual character. Grade, learning score, individual character, homestyle, parents personality, parents relationship, blood relationship had significant differences in the prevalence rate of anxiety. The score of UCLA of girls was lower than that of boys, which had a significant difference. There was a significant association between grade, learning score, individual character, homestyle, parents personality, parents relationship and UCLA. There were 9 items that the incidence rate of adolescent self-rating life events was above 50% during 5230 students investigated. It showed that 20% of the students had the sleep quality problem. PSQI correlated with grade, depression, anxiety, loneliness, life events, self-rated health measurement. The non-conditional multivariate logistic regression model showed that gender, grade, depression, anxiety, body symptom and organ function, daily life function, psycho-symptom and negative emotion, studying pressure, punishment, health fitness and others were the influential factors of sleep. Conclusions The sleep quality of adolescent was generally well, but some students had problem. The incidence rates of depression, anxiety, loneliness and negative life events of adolescent was high. High school students had more serious psycho-problem. Gender, grade, depression, anxiety, body symptom and organ function, daily life function, psycho-symptom and negative emotion, studying pressure, punishment, health fitness and others were the influential factors of sleep. To promote the adloscent healthy development, we should pay more attention to the sleep of adolescent, and carry out kinds of preventive measures to decrease the incidence of sleep disorder.
