ObjectiveTo explore and summarize the clinical experience of diagnosis and treatment ofprimary retroperitoneal tumor (PRT) adjacent kidney.MethodsClinical data of34patients of PRT adjacent kidney treated by surgery fromJanuary2004to January2014in Beijing Friendship Hospital Urology wereresearched and analyzed and summarized including their clinical symptoms, imagingexaminations, surgical treatments and pathology types.ResultsOf all34cases of PRT adjacent kidney were diagnosed and treated by surgeryoperation and confirmed by postoperative pathologic examination clearly the natureof the tumor,21cases of benign PRT and13malignant PRT. Of all the21patientswith benign tumor were complete removal (100%). Of the13patients with malignanttumor,10underwent complete tumor resection (76.9%), and another3cases palliativeresection(23.1%).ConclusionsPRT adjacent kidney always deep and hidden symptoms, lacking of earlyspecific clinical performance and result in hard to discover early. Preoperativeimaging examinations had great value in tumor detection, diagnosis before surgeryand surgical resection. Complete surgical resection is the primary means of thetreatment and reduce tumor recurrence rate of PRT.
