With the development of manufacturing industry and the growth intensity of social labor division, the automotive parts production separated from the automobile factory gradually; accompany with the separation of the automotive parts, the automotive parts logistics also arises from the logistics industry. The automotive parts logistics is a complex and highly specialized logistics system which involves in all logistics activities as transportation, storage, packaging, handling, distribution processing and information processing. Currently, most of the foreign automotive manufacturers are using third party logistics service providers, those who didn’t are also accelerating the outsourcing of logistics activities; there is also a trend to outsource the automotive parts logistics service in domestic, and a number of professional auto-parts logistics companies were set up. However, the domestic auto parts logistics company showed quite uneven situation as the short development time.Shanghai Tonghui Automotive Parts Redistribution Center Corporation Limited (RDC) is a professional third party automotive logistics service enterprises with a scale economy which is capable of provide vehicle manufacturers with network, integration and technical logistics services. Presently, RDC assumes the automotive parts redistribution services of Jinqiao district for Shanghai General Motors Corporation Limited (SGM), which including parts receiving, storage, repackaging, sequencing, shipping, inventory control and processing for various project. Recently, along with the mature of the domestic auto manufacturing, the increase for the consumer demand and the development of diversified demand, SGM enjoys a rising in output and types of vehicles increase, RDC has also made considerable development as its distribution center. Moreover, with the continuing improving national economy level and the auto market, there is still large room for the production of SGM, and the increase demand for personalized service and further development of the automotive market segments also leads to the diversify of the vehicles for SGM; the change in volume and type of SGM are reflected in distribution center as the dynamics demand. With the continuing rising of the price for labor, land and energy, domestic third party logistics enterprises faces enormous cost pressure, especially those classified as assets logistics. In this paper, we will take the perspective from RDC and combine the characteristics of the existing automotive logistics market to discuss how to improve the automotive parts logistics service level under the condition of dynamic volume and type of SGM. This article will apply SWOT analysis technique to analyze the internal strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the outside environment for RDC, and will work out the strategy to further increase the distribution ability based on the result.Distribution processing is simple processing activities occurred in the circulation process according to the needs, it created form value of goods and is one of the basic functions of logistics activities which plays an important role in logistics activities. Automated distribution is an automatic, intelligent distribution system based in warehouse and integrated with computer technology, automation technology and mechanical technology. It can effectively reduce the land and labor costs, improve the reliability of logistics distribution, as well as improve the logistics efficiency. From the point of developing processing business, constructing automated storage and retrieval system to realizing the automation of distribution, this article will focus on discuss how to enhance the ability of logistics services of automobile parts further combined with the existing RDC business.
